Liam Dickinson has somehow managed to get signed by Barnsley. Why do clubs keep taking him on?
Was one of the few on here who absolutely hated him when he was on loan here. Scored a few free kicks and that was about all he had in his locker. Unbelievably useless in the air for his size and would nearly always just back in to his man and give a free kick away.
Though Robins was a good manager but think he has made a balls up of this one

I don't think that's fair mate... How many of our other strikers scored double figures in their full seasons. He did a job despite being frustrating he scored goals - Remind you of anyone??

That's harsh on Dickinson, I thought he improved with each game he played for us, also bear in mind we had a poor team, so he did well to score so many goals for us. Not a championship player though.

Failed at Brighton and failed at Peterborough, no idea why Barnsley have gone for him, a move back to Stockport would've been perfect for getting his career back on track
I didn't mind him for us, some good games some dire ones, which is better than what most players did under Turnip I suppose

I thought he'd be a good player if he had somebody like Rhodes with him.

Ahhh that age old debate, we don't seem to like strikers who just score goals for some reason. I thought he got some unjustified stick whilst here and that he suffered from being a Ternant signing.

I was expecting to see some strange advertising banners at the top of this thread...
What with the thread being titled Donkey Dick....

Dicko was class Kidding... You could tell he came from none league but he scored some goals in a side that created fook all, he had to make and score most of em himself.. Think if he'd have played all season his ratio would have been something like 22/23 goals which like it or not is pretty decent at this level... Massive holes in his game though and he was quite temperamental in whether he could be arsed or not.

Underated, lazy and very annoying , but he scored some good goals and if we had him last season it would have given us different options.

Don't dare say target man :iconlol: Rhodes has the fox in the box option and hold up play option ticked Novak has the workrate option ticked Robinson has the pace in behind and lethal finishing options ticked Not sure what that leaves which Dickinson could have provided apart from being completely useless

Dickinson had some talent but was obviously very 'raw'.
Unfortunately he had a heart the size of a 'pea' ... ;D

Though Robins was a good manager but think he has made a balls up of this one Robins might have pulled off a coup. That remains to be seen so lets wait and see. The way I see it is Hume cost 1.2 million and Gray 750K and if we sold either both would be at a big loss. Dickinson cost 150K and will be on a lot less money than those two. If he comes good we make a good profit and if he flops again we don't lose much with the outlay. I'm sure after struggling to get in the Brighton team he won't want that again and so will be eager to prove himself and get a third year on his contract.

Yeah we are a selling club like every other club apart from probably Manchester City. Thing is you can't tell who's going to be good just by history. I'd never heard of Daniel Bogdanovic or Hugo Colace that cost a combined 200K or so and both were decent players. Others have cost way more, i've heard of them and they have flopped. It's a waiting game. Heard he likes his nights out so he sounds like the sort who would get on with Antony Kay.

To claim in an earlier post that you would hope for a good profit margin on Dickinson is extremely negative. I don't know your clubs finances but I wouldn't like to think players at the Town are signed with that in mind. Lambert springs to mind; but I took that as Hoyle implying we would have progressed and once he had done his job, he would be worthless because of his age.

Money is tight both in and out of football these days more than ever and so if selling someone at a profit pays for a new player and keeps us afloat a bit longer i'm all for it. We have signed Jay McEveley who played for Derby on a free transfer for the left back spot. The guy got Derby promoted to the premiership and played for them in the premiership and is still only in his early 20s. Signing him stopped us paying 500K for Carl Dickinson who we had on loan from Stoke last season. Gotta be savvy. We've spent next to nothing so far and lost many of our top earners in Macken, Bogdanovic, Colace, Kozluk, De Silva and Moore.
