Shocking time to sack a manager. Too late for a new guy to do anything and a bunch of naffed off players. 3 defeats in 55...Hoyle will be the laughing stock of the football league...nobody will want the job after that imo Hoyle would have been the laughing stock with us going nowhere mate, he has taken the right choice, see the percentage of posts agreeing with this and I dare bet a man of Hoyle's statue as already lined up someone else already before the decision was taken, great news for all round, he tried his best and just was not good enough, hope he goes to L***s, a lot of good talent to take us back to where we should be out there will defo go back down now TTID :appl:

There is a saying be careful what you wish for.
3 league defeats in 55 or however many; players bought and sold for a profit; record run without defeat in the league; consistently near the top of the league rather than mid-table or fighting relegation; consistency we didn't dream of before he came.
I fear that we may look back on his reign as a wonderful period in Town's history.
God I hope I'm wrong.
Thank you Lee Clark. I wish you the very best for the future.

Gutted tbh. Wanted to go up under him, liked the energy and profile. Last night tho' was the first time I'd questioned him. So what we reckon based on performance or because he's been tarting himself around to other clubs? I think it's more the case that Dean has seen that despite all the investment we really do not seem to be progressing. With 16 games left he could have sat on his hands until the summer "hoping" that LC may be able to pull a rabbit out of the bag, but instead chose to roll the dice. That investment is made now and he is hoping a new guy can bring a fresh slant to things.

As long as its not Warnock. Lets get someone in who can get the lads playing football, but with some organisation and a plan. Warnock is yesterdays man, and there are some on here who seem to think he is the Messiah, i.e. guaranteed promotion. Whatever happens now, its still got to be part of a plan for the longer term future of the club, and Warnock would be going backwards. It doesn't have to be long term, it could just be till the end of the season.

Twitter and Sky Sports news acting like its a MAJOR Shock, I thought he'd died the way the presenter read the statement.
The bottom line is the man is tactically inept!

Stupid desperate move, if he was the right man at the start of the season he is the right man now. We are 4th in the league, unbelievable. Perhaps Mr Hoyle wants to pick the team as well

Another sad day in the life of Huddersfield Town. I was one of Clark's biggest critics but I never called for him to be sacked. I just wanted him to improve, because if he improved then the team improved.
Nearly four years down the drain though to be honest.
Good luck to him in the future, I'm sure there'll be some Chairman out there daft enough to give him a job.
I doubt Warnock will be stepping up to the plate. He left us in a cloud the last time he was here and if we're all moaning about Clark's hoofball, then be prepared for Warnocks hoofball.

Yeah, 3 defeats in 55 (or 3 in 12), record run without defeat, consistently near the top, but those 3 things mean absolutely nothing, because whatever way people try to dress it up, we're still a League 1 club. No amount of good records can change that fact. Promotion matters, nothing else. Couldn't care less if we went a whole season unbeaten if we didn't get promotion at the end of it.

This has put the biggest spring in my step ever!!!!!! I was never someone who called for his head and never particularly sung his praises, but at the moment we seemed to be making zero progress and also I think the way he came acroos in interviews was a disgrace to the club at times (also the circus after the match with Stevenage)
This next appointment is massive for the club and I like many others would love to see Warnock back, some of the current squad need a rocket up them and he is the man to do it!

Lee Clark will turn up somewhere else and be able to show everyone what a good manager he is. He might well do, but that's what football is about. Lee took us as far as he possibly could, and in the end ultimately it just wasn't working. It was for the better of the club and i'm rather happy about it, but i'd just like to echo some of the positive comments above, thanks for all the effort Lee and good luck for the future.

Very sad. I liked the guy and his passion for the job and the club. Some of the vitriol on here has been harsh and unfair.
Thinking back to other managers brought in to be our 'saviour' over the last 15 years I struggle to think of any, other than Peter Jackson, who lived up to the billing, and he went when his star faded.
The only thing which gives me a little more hope is Dean Hoyle. Still a big ask for anyone coming in and very unsettling for the players.
Good luck Lee. Thanks for all the hard work and I wish it had turned out better.

Shame about a lot of the insults flying around but I guess the majority on here will still be following town after 3 or 4 other managers have passed through the doors (and given Deano's undoubting loyaylty before today that could be a fair amount of time) . I like Clark and would loved him to succeed but we have appeared tactically inept on a large number of occasions and cant really remember the time when I felt that we set up with Clark telling the players "let them worry about us" rather than "lets make sure we dont lose". One thing that worries me will be the usual hysteria (as with McDermott, Parkin etc. being world beaters and the answers to all our problems) is that although it appears a new man may get them believing in themselves and playing to their full potential that does not excuse a professional footballer having the nous to track a man or cover space or pick a pass (all of which we failed to do on numerous occasions last night and on quite a few other matches (Bournemouth, Brentford at home spring to mind). Players have to take some responsibility aswell. Good luck Mr Clark. Onwards and upwards town

Grayson's the man - a proven record getting out of this division with Blackpool and the white scum, plus imagine his motivation - 15 miles down the M62 with the best chairman in the League behind him. He'll be itching to show Mister Bates (apologies for my dyslexia) how wrong he was.
Dream scenario - we appoint Grayson, Papa Smurf appoints LC because he no longer has any compensation to pay, we go up and take 6 points off them next season.......
Clark deserves thanks for what he did and the effort he put in, but as DH has realised, he's not quite good enough.

I was neither pro clark, or anti clark. I think managers grow and learn with experience. We were too negative for me at times (playoffs the prime example) and I found many tactical and substitution choices to be poor and without imagination. So I don't think that the management team were learning their lessons. He has gone now, no need to get overly emotional. I feel positive about a change. A fresh approach, we have many players underperforming and a change can sometimes create new energy. So hopefully we get in someone good who can make the best out of this crop of players and get us up. :appl: Excellent post. Says it all for me

Firstly, thank you Lee Clark, i have no doubt he will become a premier league manager one day, he worked incredibly hard and he has showed glimpses of managing a good side. Recently we've gone a bit stale, and in my opinion we need a fresh change.
Secondly, the timing is great IMO, we either get a new man who takes over, and go up, or a new man comes in and assesses each player so we know what we need for the summer. Needs to be the right appointment, big task with all the managers looking for work.
