Does Di Canio know we have a great centre mid to pair him with?
Anton Robinson.

HI, STFC fan following on from Roberts any feedback you can give on Miller greatly appreciated. Have a good season lads. I think his missed penalty at Wembley summed up his 12 months... I always referred to him as "10 minute Tommy". He'll play well for 10 minutes and then just completely evaporate. On the plus side we had a good record with him in the team so he must have done a reasonable job - he just never really contributed anything to it... In the League he scored once and created 1 goal in 26 games. For a midfielder it's not the be all and end all of course, but I'd be surprised if he got in your team. I'm sticking a 5er on you lot for the top 6 next season as well.

A bit like watching Scott Parker but without the work rate or tackling ability. That therefore leaves you with a very little apart from excelling at 3 yard 1-2s

Thanks for the comments doesnt install confidence think PDC must have brought him in to add depth and a bit of experience to the squad.

Miller is very very average. Don't expect much energy, tackling or goals.
We were very underwhelmed when we signed him last year, I'm sure you could have picked up better tbh. A league 2 player IMO.

Tbh i think he'll do ok for Swindon. A decent League 1 player just never really settled into the revolving door which was our midfield last season. Grayson thought highly enough of him to start him in all three play-off games so he can't be as garbage as folk are making out on here. Hope he does well for you mate.
Don't let him take any penalties

Decent player at League One level.
Was in our best two centre midfielders last season and we got promoted. Isn't as bad as people on here are making out, comfortable on the ball and retains possesion fairly well. Scored a belter at Scunthorpe.
edit: original post said really well. I meant fairly well, he isn't Xavi or anything.

Despite what people say on here, Town always played better when he played and he and Damian Johnson were a vital part of the team that got us to Wembley and promoted.
A decent midfielder for L1 and he will do you a job if he has a partner who can run about.

Grayson played him because the other options had at his disposal were Kay, Robinson and Arismendi !

Grayson played him because the other options had at his disposal were Kay, Robinson and Arismendi ! A midfield trio that would be very worrying if we had been relegated let alone promoted.

In my opinion our midfield last season was not necessarily the fault of any individual player but rather that Clark simply could not get the right combination of player to make our midfield look anything other than an average League 1 midfield. I think the likes of Robinson, Miller, Johnson, Kay etc may well go on elsewhere to do good things. I don’t think you can hold any one player culpable.
In retrospect I get the impression that Clark knew his weakness was selecting and developing his central midfield, and knowing this over bought in that position last year. Problem is it’s not just as simple as acquiring midfielders, you have to get them playing together which is what we never really did.

Yeah, every midfielder we had to choose from last year was brought in either because they'd done well elsewhere or at least shown good potential. I know Town have got a proud history of making good players average but there was obviously a bit more to it than just bringing in poor individuals. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they all went off and did much better at League 1 level with other teams.

Agreed, that's why im not panicking about us not having signed anyone yet. I would like the signings we make this summer to be a bit of quality and who grayson can build a team with. Not just players ppl want us to sign becuase they're on a free, or because they're playing for ireland at the euros, or because leeds or bolton are interested in them.
Take your time simon and make the correct signings......

Midfielder Tommy Miller had earlier given Ipswich a 41st minute lead by extending his astonishing 100 percent career record to 26 penalties, after Sheffield United central defender Matthew Kilgallon had also handled. Missing a penalty doesn't mean you're a rubbish taker.

You wouldn't think he'd scored a penalty in his career after seeing his 2 miserable attempts in a town shirt.

Just to clarify that, a team player is one who is willing to lose the ball for the team cause, rather than someone who will only play the simple pass for his own benefit.

HI, STFC fan following on from Roberts any feedback you can give on Miller greatly appreciated. Have a good season lads. Don't expect anything positive on here about TM. He came back from injury into a side that had lost 3 on the bounce to then gain 7 out of 9 points in the last 3 games of the season, and then was ever present during a successful play-off campaign. Obviously not all his own doing but he's ridiculously slated on here when he loses the ball or misplaces a pass. His performances vary but on his day a wise head at L1 level and can bang one in as well. You've signed a decent midfielder for that level.

He was that bad that in the end after we'd been through every other combination of central midfielders (and there was a lot!) we went back to him and got promoted.
Not great by any means but not as bad as people are making out.

Thanks for all the comments one and all. An optimistic we can make the play offs though Div 1 looks very open. Navarro signing fromBrighton a big plus. Shame we still don't have Danny Ward STFC fans loved him! All the best in the Championship Lads.
