Expect to see us anywhere between 18th-12th. Slow improvements. r One of the few realistic posts on here. Those who think the division is unpredictable are talking nonsense. Money talks - all the top 6 bar Brighton were entirely predictable. Lots more money in the division next season so it will be tougher.

I don't think it is. It's a weak division with 6 decent teams at the top. If we are a decent team next season we should be right up there ... as a minimum for me at the top of the pile of the crap teams. Of course, but the question is if we are going to be a decent team next season or not. I think we've been half decent at the very least since Wagner came in but we are still struggling with the results. Before this season I wouldn't have thought Brighton would be where they are and last season I would never bet Wigan would be relegated and Bournemouth winners so like I said this division is very hard to predict. There is always going to be a few surprises at both ends, and hopefully we can be the surprise in the top 6 next season although IMO we could just as likely be in the bottom 6 yet again. I'll agree the winners and losers are difficult to predict. However, I predict we will be a lot more decent next season than this and therefore we will at least get to the top of the pile of weak teams ..... which this season starts at position 7. Even just acquiring a decent left back could do the business, contrary to what I first thought VLP is going to be a threat in the div, and I'm hopeful we are going to strengthen in several positions. What can go wrong! I don't think it's remotely likely we will be in the bottom six ..... although I'll cede it's possible. You also have to take into account that DW seems to be clever and capable and is learning the division all the time - witness the last 3 games. UTT

Convert dominance into points and improve the efficiency of chances to goals.

I would be very happy with top 10 but anything above 14th would be acceptable.

A top half finish would do for me. Particularly if we can continue to play entertaining football.
A positive goal difference and a finish above Leeds would be nice too.

Top half next season, go for the play offs the season after, get in the play offs the season after that, actually win the play offs the season after that.

To lose less games in a season than Azam FC have lost in the last 6 and a half years (they lost 3-0 tonight and were 55/1 at the bookies). That would be less than 18 (17 then) and then Slapps can say "its progress".

Not to sell our best players and invest to have a good go at it. Anything less then top 10 will be disappointing.

Not sure this is on the correct thread but didn't feel the need to start a new one as this is not mind blowing stuff. Just read DW comments and talks about new players clearly foreign, stating they've been shown clips of the championship and uses the word "them" clearly a few from the continent already lined up already.
might be just his translation however.

One expectation that needs tempering is that Billing is somehow going to become a first pick midfielder for next season. He was way short again tonight and lacks concentration and an urgency about his play. He's nowhere near Huws at the present time. I want the lad to do well, but wanting alone won't make it happen. I know I'm in a minority, but if Huws goes then I feel we will need to purchase his replacement rather than rely on Billing to step up so quickly. Controversial. Oh... and 10th would be a good season, for me, next year.

Wells to get 20 plus(if he's still here) but still rated as a 'league one striker' or 'not good enough to take us forward' by some on here!!! I hear & read some ridiculous stuff about Wells.. Here's a stat for the Wells doubters, he's scored as many from open play as Ross Mccormack (14) & only 2 behind Andre Gray (16) this season.. That's a £1.3m player v an £11m & £8m player.. Not bad really.

You look at the team and to be honest there isn't an obvious positon that you think if we got a great championship player they would make that much difference. Its almost like we are hoping for 11 slightly better versions of the players we have to improve. On that basis and the likelihood we will only strengthen a few areas I see us as mid table.

Thought he looked a little off the pace first half but was good second half, huws is a cracking footballer be a top signing and wouldn't mean we have to rush billing who will in time be a great footballer for town in my opinion of course.

And a pre season with this management team. Lots to learn.

We're hoping for 11 slightly better players? Who's 'we'? I'm thinking afew tweaks in defence, one of which is hopefully sorted with Löwe coming in, a solid striker as competition for Wells, a new goalie if Villa want Steer back.. Hopefully we can keep Huws & Paterson otherwise they'll need replacing with similar quality.. Really don't think we're as far away as you think to push into the top half.

I really have a good feeling that we will go for it next season. Having Wagner has manager fills me with confidence, we have a great chance of a top 6 finish. I hope the extra season tickets we have sold will give a better atmosphere because we need to get behind the lads and be the 12th man.

Top half would be great. In this division, you need team spirit, fitness and a good game plan (which I think we will have) and a lot of luck (with injuries and officials' decisions going for you, which we've not had a lot of this season). Then anything can happen after that.

Aren't we 9th since Wagner took over? Top half is very achievable but every other side will be thinking the same

Between 6th and 10th. With a full pre season and more of Wagner's own signings there is no reason why not.

Finish higher than this season ( which will hopefully be at least 15th) . Do that and I wouldn't complain .
