We are trying to get a deal done for Jamie Paterson, Huws won't be here next year too expensive and we won't be signing Steer. we have two keepers already lined up to sign. Wow, talk about getting the business done early. This is so different from previous years and should help with the pre-season work. Downside is that this site's viewing numbers will be at an all time low during the summer. Could be a bumper thread-creating summer period for Nick though as he will be facing little opposition.

So if we're signing Paterson why didn't we get him for cheaper in January as part of this clause?
Unless it works out cheaper to loan him and not pay full wages than it does to buy him cheaper and pay full wages?

A very good natured and positive Q&A today. Mandy Taylor came across very well too and seems to be lovely in all respects. Can't blame Rambo for sneaking a peck!
On more than one occasion DH indicated, as clear as he possibly could do so, that we can expect several more signings yet, probably some more from overseas but he stressed that DW recognises the need for continuity as well. Doug Thompson of the Examiner was given a bit of a ribbing which he took in good spirit.
All good stuff.

I heard tell of this exchange...
Question: "What will it take for us to move into the middle eight in this division?"
Answer: "Me getting my cheque book out"
Is this correct?

With the two Germans coming in I think we'll already have enough for the middle eight of the league.

Could be - you could also factor risk into that... if pato broke his leg after january it would cost us nearly a years wages instead of being able to let him return to forest

For those worrying we are not going to spend he did say we have already committed nearly a million to sign VLP. It was funny when he spoke about meeting our new centre half at the Burnley game. Apparently he left Deans hand white after a handshake and kept stressing that he loves a hard challenge. It sounds as though we are starting to address our issue of not being up to the physical side of the game at times.

Warnock will get £1m bonus for keeping Rotherham up. Town looking at two goal keepers. Next seasons approach will be totally differsnt. Huws too expensive. Paterson is dependant on Forest as they are potentially being bought by a foreign club but town want to buy him. Dean said he told Powell the players weren't fit enough but Powell disagreed. Dean believes David Wagner cannot get anymore out of the current squad than what he has and believes he now needs to put his hand in his pocket to take it to the next level. Wagners contract will remain as it is, 12 month rolling. Winter offers a differant approach than clibbens, Nigel was good for stability. Players can leave for nothing if clubs in Germany get relegated. Michael Hefele told Dean he loves to fight and tackle.
Hefele to Hoyle: "In Germany, you tackle and get yellow card. Here, you can fight"
Hoyle: "We'll have him"
Hudson to be kept if possible. Town looking to bring in more experience next season.

We still need some dominant attackers with the ability to disrupt the oppositions' set plays as well as creating and scoring goals.
Is that the same thing or different? And was it inferred therefore that he was intent on spending?
3 signings already, looks like 2 more goalkeepers, who have already been identified. Speaking to one of coaching staff at beginning of week and he said we were getting a striker in before the reporting of interest in Simon Terodde. So potentially 6 signings already or planned and I can see perhaps more and on another note, DH response to MH Hefele to Hoyle: "In Germany, you tackle and get yellow card. Here, you can fight" Hoyle: "We'll have him" Exciting times. UTT

Did Dean say we are still going to be working within FFP (if it even really exists) or is he now prepared to take a fine in an attempt at breaking in to the play offs?

One thing DH will not do is break FFP but we have the legendary "war chest" made up from the transfers of Smithies, Coady and Butterfield, along with the outstanding monies from the Rhodes deal along with the sell on clauses plus the Consolidation payments from PL, although 1 million of the 2 million has been earmarked for SC sales. Also possible further payments if Boro or Derby get promoted from Clayton, Rhodes and Butterfield But this money will be used wisely in purchases that will be value for money, which could be from the overseas players

My god, even if he had weighed it up and made that decision, there's no way he'd announce that at Canalside. He may have said too much in the past, but that would be a ridiculous thing to admit to.

FFP is a crock of shit designed at keeping clubs like ours from upsetting the bigger clubs. sure it may have been started with the best of intentions, but the bigger clubs and the FA will just use it to protect their 'cartel' of big clubs.

You're dead right and why fine a team who probably can't pay..points deductions are the only deterrent to make this work. Of the meeting DH was up beat and clearly looking forward to next season already. It was also confirmed the players were going on a military style training camp in Sweden and possibly playing friendlies in Austria. It is however interesting that none of the more negative / cynical who post on here ever show up and ask questions...odd that, given how passionate and concerned they can be.

All the squad are going on a Swedish survival trip, Dortmund do it every year apparently. The squad get put together in groups of three, they get a canoe, fishing rod and a tent and must survive for 3 days.... Apparently it's good for intergrating new players, team building and team spirit. I hope DTS does some video diaries of this.
