And Russell Crowe is no Patrick Stewart But equally Patrick Stewart is no Michael Bolton.......would like to see the bald headed, galactic traveller attempting ''How am I going to live without you'' and see if he compares. It couldn't be worse than Mr Mullets Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

I 'liked' that because you mentioned Arthur English. And you knew he supported Aldershot. Much respect. Kudos from me too for dredging up English ( who died 21 years ago ) from the recesses of the mind ... I'm querying it though as there is no mention of it on his Wikipedia page .. So can it be true ? . Maybe Epsom has some inside info on the great man ? Maybe he bumped into him at Rumbelows and after initial chit chat about his ( English's not Epsoms) role as Slugger on Follyfoot the conversation turned quickly to football and those epic Shots/Terriers fourth division encounters of the mid seventies Edit I apologise ive just read further down wiki page "He had been president of Aldershot Town F.C.[13][14] which had been formed out of the ashes of Aldershot F.C. The new club badge depicted a rising phoenix and was designed by English." He designed the club badge !!!!!!!! And , at 58 years old after his missus dies he married a 22 year old dancer And he was in Crown Court , and the worst film of all time ( cannon and ball's "boys in blue ") Arthur English WHAT A GUY Epsomterrier we salute you Surely Waterworld is the worst film ever Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

Don't you EVER knock Cannon and Ball. M'lud .... May I offer up as a defence , EXHIBIT A .. Like a poor man's Morecambe & Wise who made a career for several years out of twanging braces. It was hard to work out who was the straight man in this comedic duo.

Tommy Cannon was a Rochdale fan and chairman for a while.. But I'm sure Dale fans viewed it as a bit of a vanity project

Would you say Cannon and Ball were less funny than 'Little and Large'? Serious question, I can't decide.
Oh and I love Crown Court Ted.

Lots in the music business. Robert Plant always dyed in the wool Wolves fan, Steve Harris from Iron Maiden usually wears West Ham wrist bands on stage and has had one of his signature basses done in WH colours. Elton very involved at Watford for a long time of course. Huddersfield born iron maiden manager Rob Smallwood was a well known town fan. Wrong I'm afraid, it's Rod not Rob, and despite being from Hudds he isn't a Town fan.

Harold Wilson - always cursed Town when he came to watch a game. I always blamed him for turning up at Coventry in '65 and cursing us to a 3-0 win, he should have done the same in the return fixture. I add the bit I always put in these threads to contrast Wilson with today's politicians. George Brown (who was, I think, Home Secretary at the time) has a bit in his autobiography about it. Him and Harold, who was PM, were in Liverpool at some meeting or other. Around 11/12 Harold announced he was off. Brown thought it was a bit early but they packed up and set off. It was only when they got to the ground that Brown realized Harold had planned it all so he to get to watch Town on his way back to London.

Yes, their b-side 'Sheriff of Huddersfield' is about Smallwood. And borrowed as a user name on here Edit, just checked back and someone has already pointed this out - duh...

I think Ralph Little maybe also had a potential career as a footballer? I expect someone has already mentioned it but the Gallagher brothers were often seen at Man City.

Strange choice for a Bradford lad, I saw Bottom live at the Grand in Leeds once when he took the piss out of the Champions of Europe Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards Not really, anyone is better than supporting Bradford. Edmondson and his wife Jennifer Saunders have lived for years in Chagford on the east side of Dartmoor. Nice village with a great mobile fish and chips van! We once looked at buying a cottage there.

Robert Plant - Wolves Arthur English (RIP) - Aldershot Proclaimers - Hibs Fat boy Slim - Brighton Nick Owen - Luton Town I 'liked' that because you mentioned Arthur English. And you knew he supported Aldershot. Much respect. Cheers for that, just seen your post! When I moved to Surrey in 1981 I lived just N of Guildford for a while and went to watch Aldershot a lot. At one time English was on the Board at Aldershot and I certainly saw him there plenty of times. I could be wrong, but I think he became a Shots fan when he was stationed in Aldershot.
