Huddersfield Town summer signing suggests he’d have preferred to remain where he was
By Sport Witness - 18th January 2018
Huddersfield Town defender Terence Kongolo has told the Dutch media he wanted to succeed at AS Monaco, but had to leave to get playing time.
The 23 year old is currently on loan with Huddersfield Town until the end of the season.
Speaking to Ad.nl, Kongolo was asked why he took the decision to leave Monaco for the Premier League side: “I had to get minutes. Otherwise I would have to stand still for a year. There are different ways to the top. Of course I wanted to succeed in Monaco, I really thought it was a perfect step.
“I did not go there for the nice weather and the view. I did not get much of that, I usually sat indoors. Whether I was unhappy there? No, I do not think so.”

Kongolo was a number of players to arrive at Huddersfield Town last summer, following the West Yorkshire side’s promotion to the Premier League.
However, if playing time was the reason the central defender came to England then it’s likely he will be disappointed with the number of games he’s got under David Wagner.
The Dutchman has played just 19 minutes of Premier League football this season, and his only start for Huddersfield Town came in the FA Cup clash with Bolton Wanderers.
