Sorry to state the obvious but I think everyone agree we need a striker who knows where the onion bag is this month and I’ve seen a few people mention someone to cover mooy when he goes away and a new number 10.
Just to name a few possibilities for us
Adel taarabt as been made available by benfica, could he excell under Wagner? Neal Maupay who we’ve contantly been linked with Solanke loan Defoe doubtful due to wages

Solanke, another striker and a RWB who can beat a man or cross first time. I would love Moses but no chance of him coming here.

I think Solanke on Loan would be a great signing, young and hungry. Would like another proven striker too, Maupay has kind of stuttered after a blistering start so not sure he's the man. Buying a striker in January is difficult. You're either paying way over the odds for someone scoring a few with the hope he'll get the goals to keep us up or getting someone cheaper but obviously not playing thus out of form. We need someone who's going to start scoring straight away against Cardiff on the 12th but not breaking the bank.

I may be on spice but Samir Nasri is on a free and able to play after Christmas. rumour had it West Ham were interested but reluctant as he wanted £100k a week. If we gave him that 'til the end of the season the total cost would be less than £2m. Add on a £1m bonus for keeping us up? What's £3m in the grand scheme of things in the EPL...
If anyone could get the best out of him it's DW.

If we play 3 at the back then do we need another centre back ? As Smith is injured, only Stankovic as cover. Although Loewe has done the left side one to cover for Kongolo. Could be argued another wing back too but I realise that other areas need priority.

Might seem extreme but.... 35yr old Yaya Toure has just had his contract terminated by mutual consent so can sign for any club straight away! Short term contract to cover Moy.

Fran Sol looks like a good option. Scored 10 goals for Willem ll so far this season. Left foot, right foot, headers, long rangers & poachers goals. He apparently travelled to the Watford v Palace game earlier in the season so he could have an interest in joining a premier league club? I don't think he'd break the bank either.

Maybe - came through the Real Madrid youth system but only really been playing top tier football for 2 and a half seasons. 45 goals in 85 for Willem II, but this season looks more prolific - 15 in 17 league and cup, plus 3 assists. Question would be whether Dutch football is a strong enough test but may be worth a punt.

Go get Okazaki. Can play at 9 or 10, out of contract in the summer and fits our hardworking ethos.

But what about the impact on squad morale bringing in a player on £100k when the current highest earner is probably on no more than half of that?

Simple fact of the matter is we need quality in, especially a midfielder with Mooy missing. It's up to the manager to tell the players the whys and hows.

You'd hope that our team has players savvy enough to realise that bringing in someone of his pedigree and past achievements is something they should relish.... It won't happen but would be a coup, and a statement of intent from the club. He'd be the most gifted player to have ever played for the club, surely? But it won't happen. Will it?

Jaden Brown. 19yr old left sided defender from Spurs being linked in the local rag today. (Mel Booth in Examiner)

A 90 year old Samir Nasri in a pressing side yeah that’ll work wonders. Are you seriously suggesting that, if the opportunity were to arise, (it won't) to sign Samir Nasri on a free for 5 months, at the age of 31, you'd turn it down? Don't do drugs, folks.

Defoe linked with Crystal Palace on loan in January. Would fit the bill for us if the money was right

I'm a bit worried about pinning all hopes on Solanke - he's scored one goal in the last 2 years - granted he hasn't played loads of games but he did have Salah, Mane, etc providing ammunition!!
A more experienced striker is needed in my opinion - surely Dean would splash out on a loan move for Defoe or someone similar!

Samir Nasri was a really good player but what i would say he as a soft under belly and the guy looks like he is struggling to find a club for many reasons, money, age, i have already said we need younger guys who will be more consistent and give it all for 90mins.

Solanke, a strong lad who can and does chase and harry.. he might not score a load if he comes here but he does possess different qualities to the two we have..plus he will be wanting to make a name for himself, wont cost a fortune and is not tied to us if it does go badly..
or some foreigner most of us have never heard of and hope he is to striking in the top division as Schindler has been to defending..
Il'l leave it with you Dave and Deano...and I promise not to moan if you try something and it does not work..
