Following the further deterioration in the Town’s condition, the time as come for us to reflect on a suitable engraving for the headstone.
An epitaph serves many purposes not least to facilitates the grieving process.
We are grieving and it might well provide a degree of solace at this sad time.
I hope that this topic will not be moved off topic as it should provide a invaluable outlet for all who dearly love this club.
Your contributions are respectfully invited ladies and gentlemen.

Gave a chance to get shut of the dead wood and I’m not talking about the club, staff, players etc.

Spike Milligans would suffice. "I told you I was poorly".

Or a play on Churchill's speech. "Never, on the field, was so much owed by so few to so many".

We pay peanuts for tickets, far less than championship fans. We've lived to see something none of us thought would happen. We're light years ahead of anything I've known in 40 years of watching. I'm really getting sick to the back of my f***ing teeth of hearing from moaning Jessies. Get a freaking life and go support someone else and get off this board.

That's the epitaph: go and support someone else.

Rather akin to a fart on a plastic chair. The thread was clearly created in jest, my post fairly light-hearted and witty. My other post on this thread alluded to the humourist Spike Milligan. In using a Churchill line, "the many", it was obvious that this represented the fans. "The few" then represents the overpaid and clearly under-talented players. The club owes the fans nothing. The current squad certainly does. Can I suggest that you get off the board Malcolm, it is clearly not good for your mood.

For help and support at this difficult time please visit www.downatthepeacock.co.uk It used to be called Down at the Mac but there are so many sad leeds wankers setting up accounts and then pretending to be town fans we felt it appropriate to rename the site (Cosmichazyjive is excluded from this comment).

Here rests his head upon the lap of earth, A youth to fortune and to fame unknown. Fair science frowned not upon his humble birth, And melancholy marked him for her own.
Large was his bounty, and his soul sincere, Heaven did a recompense as largely send: He gave to misery all he had, a tear, He gained from heaven ('twas all he wished) a friend.
No farther seek his merits to disclose, Or draw his frailties from their dread abode, (There they alike in trembling hope repose) The bosom of his Father and his God.
Not particularly relevant.....but beautifully written.
