Wouldn't trust Sky Sports claiming Sky sources. They claimed Sky sources when it came to Allardyce ruling himself out of the running, despite their supposed sources actually being Allardyce himself ruling himself out of the running live on the radio. They claim Sky sources for everything, even when it's not Sky sources at all

This has Hudson written all over it. Can i ask why? A search for a new manager takes a while unless it's an internal appointment. Given Hoyle has confirmed we have a new manager less than 24 hours after Wagner left, there won't have been enough time to get anyone else in, so it must be Hudson.

Wagner was appointed the following day after Powell's departure. My view is that if it's Hudson it would be announced straight away there's no need to wait if he's already taking the team Sunday.

It'll be Mark Hudson until the end of the season, after gaining his first 3 points of his managerial career. Would it be odd to 'announce' Hudson though? Surely if we wanted Hudson to see the season out, we'd just let things be and hold an official appointment in the summer. Can't help but feel this suggests someone else coming in. Yeah possibly. See if there's anyone 'unusual' in the directors' box on Sunday afternoon I suppose.

Surprised by how quick it apprently will be. Presume they've known for a while that Wagner would be gone at the end of the season and have brought forward the existing replacement plan.

So why wouldn't we have announced yesterday that it is Hudson until the end of the season if that was going to be the case instead of putting him in for the City game, playing that game, and then announcing him until the end of the season? This sounds like it will be an outside appointment, I think Jokanovic is a good shout, but I feel people are under-estimating Rebbe's role in this appointment - it could be a left-field German we've never heard of. Worked out alright last time.

But DH knew Wagner was going at the end of the season, plus he's always said they had a succession plan in place. I suspect it is either an unemployed UK based manager, or someone from Germany.

Jokanovic turned down the Forest job. Why do that unless he had another job lined up?
or would we go back to Dortmund and nick yet another coach from them?

Whoever it is, good thinking to only appoint them AFTER the Man City game so he doesn't have that on his record!

Losing wagner is like a terrible divorce, bit if we got jacko back it would be like going back to our mams to live. We would feel safe, warm and cozy and he would look after us.

This appointment is crucial. Think Big Sam summed it up really well in his statements today - that from here it's really about preparing for next season in the Championship and a push to get back up. We'll have parachute payments coming our way and with good leadership and some smart recruiting we can have a push again.
Obviously it'd be better if we can avoid the drop instead, but that's a long shot at this point.

There's some interesting facts about the coaching requirements that Mark Hudson has and would need to be the iterim manager: That suggests he will not be the acting manager come the seasons end.

Announcing it 'after the Man City' game could be any time, it doesn't necessarily mean straight afterwards ! All I am taking from that is any announcement won't be before that game.

"Mark Hudson is still involved in the club and has held the position of under-23s manager since his retirement in 2017. The former defender possesses a UEFA B licence, although he is currently studying for the UEFA A category.
However, he doesn't hold a UEFA Pro Licence, which is mandatory for managing full-time in the Premier League. He does though take charge of their game against Manchester City on a caretaker basis."

Can only see an external appointment if Sky are correct. As already mentioned doesnt add up for Hudson or Hughes to take the job permanent or we'd have announced it already. I personally think it will be Jokanovic and would be happy with that...

Has the be jokanovic surely. Proven track record of getting teams into the prem, plays attacking football and gets himself a good few months to look at the squad to see what we need in the summer. Oh and he’s out of work so no compensation needed

Anyone know when the initial chat was that decided Wagner would leave at the end of the season? I’d guess after Fulham. The whole game plan was crazy that day and suggested DW was struggling for answers. It also men’s that was when we started planning his successor, not yesterday.
Linked to that - Jokanovic was in the running for a couple of jobs over the last 2 -3 weeks but turned them down stating he ‘wanted a rest from football’. Maybe we had already spoken to him and he was diplomatically making himself unavailable without showing his/out hand? I guess we’ll find out.

I wonder if the timing of Wagner’s departure is because we need to move now to get our new man in, hence the announcement on Sunday. It could be someone out of work that has been approached about another job, that would prefer to come here.
Or it might just be because after losing to Cardiff the last flicker of a chance of staying up has gone so we may as well get someone in so they can learn about the squad before next season.
I wonder why we let VLP go though, I’d have thought the new guy would’ve wanted to have a look at him. Unless VLP demanded to go, or the new guy was consulted and knows enough about him to say that he doesn’t need him for this season.
Nice to see that we’re moving so quickly though, there has clearly been a succession plan in place. Would like Jokanovic or some guy from Europe with top flight & Champions League experience, like the guy Southampton have just got in.
