It would’ve made no sense to announce Hudson on Sunday even if he did have the qualifications. Would have been tested first as interim for a few months to see if he can cope at this level first, due to barely any experience at all. Would’ve made no sense to just appoint him.

Hudson doesn't yet have his UEFA A licence or his pro licence. According to the rules he can hold the position of caretaker manager for 12 weeks which wouldn't take us until the end of the season.
With Skybet the odds for Jokanovic & Siewart have dropped to 4/1 in the last hour.

Fingers crossed for Jokanovic. Some won't like him as he doesn't have the same enthusiastic personality as Wagner but his football in the Championship spoke for itself
He managed to get a team with Scott Malone in it to completely tear us a new one. That must make him some kind of wizard

Announcing it 'after the Man City' game could be any time, it doesn't necessarily mean straight afterwards ! All I am taking from that is any announcement won't be before that game. "after their game against #MCFC on Sunday evening" says the tweet. Seems pretty clear to me.

I wonder if the timing of Wagner’s departure is because we need to move now to get our new man in, hence the announcement on Sunday. It could be someone out of work that has been approached about another job, that would prefer to come here. Or it might just be because after losing to Cardiff the last flicker of a chance of staying up has gone so we may as well get someone in so they can learn about the squad before next season. I wonder why we let VLP go though, I’d have thought the new guy would’ve wanted to have a look at him. Unless VLP demanded to go, or the new guy was consulted and knows enough about him to say that he doesn’t need him for this season. Nice to see that we’re moving so quickly though, there has clearly been a succession plan in place. Would like Jokanovic or some guy from Europe with top flight & Champions League experience, like the guy Southampton have just got in. Heard the reason VLP left was due to a non playing reason .... in the same way Marcus Stewart left.

Interview with Jokanović where he talks about having to spend time with players. Coupled with the Sporting Life article that mentions the slow starts Fulham made under him I'd imagine that if it is him he'd want to start as soon as possible.

Losing wagner is like a terrible divorce, bit if we got jacko back it would be like going back to our mams to live. We would feel safe, warm and cozy and he would look after us. Even better if we got Lillis to caretaker for a game first, just to ease us back

Anyone know when the initial chat was that decided Wagner would leave at the end of the season? I’d guess after Fulham. The whole game plan was crazy that day and suggested DW was struggling for answers. It also men’s that was when we started planning his successor, not yesterday. Linked to that - Jokanovic was in the running for a couple of jobs over the last 2 -3 weeks but turned them down stating he ‘wanted a rest from football’. Maybe we had already spoken to him and he was diplomatically making himself unavailable without showing his/out hand? I guess we’ll find out. Might even be quite hands off until the summer, which gives him his rest from football too

With Skybet the odds for Jokanovic & Siewart have dropped to 4/1 in the last hour. I would expect Siewart to be out of the same Dortmund mould as DW. Hence, I'm guessing that the football would be similar - at least it would be pretty on the eye, although more goals would be welcome. The bonus is that he has quite a high win percentage (55%) with the under 23s. Jokanovic - again great football to watch which would please me more than anything. People saying, ...he's turned Forest down, so he must be coming to us. I wonder if he turned Forest down because he already had an agreement with us, or he didn't want to drop into the Championship. I'd have thought Forest would be quite an attractive club. Either way we save money because we don't need to employ ball boys/girls up the Kilner Bank to throw the balls back!

Can only see an external appointment if Sky are correct. As already mentioned doesnt add up for Hudson or Hughes to take the job permanent or we'd have announced it already. I personally think it will be Jokanovic and would be happy with that... Welcome back

All the lights go off, theme music starts playing, a single shaft of light comes from the centre circle as a newly-installed podium rises from under the pitch. Stood upon it, The Undertaker. Crowd goes wild.

Hope it is Jokanovic.
Likes the full-back approach which works well with the system we already have in place, so no doubt he'll have a few players in mind that could do a job there!
Wonder if he could tempt Vydra and Fredericks to come to us to the Championship..

Apart from the opportunity to test himself, and the players, against the best in the country (except City!) there's the outside chance of keeping us up. That would trump anything he's done in his career so far.

Heard that we were talking with Jokanovic but you've got to see that Siewert would 'fit'.
We have made a big deal about creating a legacy and an identity, one things for certain, we aren't going to dismantle our academys, appoint coaches to play the Wagner way etc and then appoint someone else who doesn't embrace that style of play. Siewert would be a ready made fit, understanding it from academy right through.
It does make sense.
The big thing though is that I personally believe that Wagner himself will have advised and choosen the successor. Who would he pick?

does he have a nasty demeanour or a nice one. Its not a deal breaker for me but i would like to know Its the Fulham manger that got sacked earlier this season because they were bottom of the league having not won in 7. Should fit right in then....

Whoever comes in I hope it is no later than Sunday, it should give him enough time to assess the squad & bring some players in before the window closes. We may be in for an exciting deadline day for a change?

Imagine a scenario where DW has had enough after the Soton game but DH talks him out of it, saying that we would be in the lurch, so could he hang on for a few more games whilst we find someone else, and by the way is there anyone whom DW could recommend. They have both publicly stated that they will remain friends, so, although this is an unlikely scenario for any other club, I could see that happening here
