For the next 15 games Martin, sorry Jan, has a "free hit" to a degree and can have a go at each game. He faces the same challenge in that he has the same players to work with. Whatever the next few weeks brings he should be judged over 18 months or so.
Interesting times indeed....
Good luck Jan.

Big Sam: wouldn't touch that Hudds job with a barge-pole. hudds employ a German manager. Big Sam: harrumph... total lack of opportunities for brit managers these days. what a risible c***. I saw / heard all this and made the same connection too. And it properly pissed me off. To expand on your excellent observation and to add genuine context: *Big Fat Sam*: “they [HTAFC] are rock-bottom...and I don’t think I could change that, so for me it is not the right match. It is not the job for me. They have got enough goals to get them out of trouble. They don’t have a striker like I had at Sunderland”. *Big Fat Sam*: “Huddersfield aren’t considering me, they said, that’s fine. Realistically, I have to get a job that I consider worthy of success and one where I can win football matches. If both parties talk together...I can show them new training plans I’ve been working on, then it would come along and I’d say yes...But it’s out of my hands and about who fancies me. I can’t determine if and when I get a job”. *Town appoint German manager. *Big Fat Sam:* there are not enough opportunities for British managers. “It’s extremely worrying...it’s becoming more difficult to choose a career as an Englishman in your own country. For me, you have to look abroad”. #BigFatSulk.

Attack. Attack. Attack,Attavk,Attack and he should ask the fans to chant it for 90 mins to get the message home.

I know it's a challenge, I've just got here, 45 pts to play for, not going to happen so I'll be prepping for next season... In his first press conference... Tell me you're taking the piss here?

Tell me you're taking the piss here? there are enough games left to get us out of the shit, plus there is surely no pressure on us because we're so far adrift. If we go on a run of winning games then perhaps it is possible. If we can pull back 6 or 7 points from somewhere that would make it very interesting.

If he genuinely believes that we can stay up then he is totally deluded I'm afraid. Whether he believes it or not he's not going to say otherwise, (I have no reason to think he doesn't) i'd be worried if he didn't think that it's possible.

Attack. Attack. Attack,Attavk,Attack and he should ask the fans to chant it for 90 mins to get the message home. I don’t want to point out an inconvenient truth, but you could have Fergie, Zidane and sir Matt Busby working shifts on our current crop and guess what? you are not going to dramatically change the fortunes or the product on the pitch. People talked about Wagner like he chose not to attack. That’s crazy talk as some are unable to view something in light of the circumstances and context In which it exists. I remember some people who last season were disappointed that Mooys impact on the game had dipped from the championship season. No shit Sherlock!! My personal opinion is that this is a very tough job. Had the decision being mine, I would have caretakerd it with hudson until the end of the season and then brought someone in. The new manager might be stressed out and have had enough by summer and you lot (DATM majority) night have again lost perspective and be calling for his head. All this because of the environment around the job and the current predicament.

Hes a good looking lad isn't he! I don;t know who fancies him most, me or the wife! Hes a big gamble but i do like the way we have an ethos that we are sticking to. He's obviously keen to be his own man and not be compared to wagner all the time. You could tell he was getting a bit irritated by the repetitive questions about it in the interview today. But at the same time he has this chance because he is very similar to Wagner in terms of footballing principles and culture. And why not, its an ethos that has taken this club on an incredible journey over the past 3 years. Hopefull he can find a way to build on it and improve the areas where we have fallen short. Its certainly better than what other clubs tend to do ( and what we used to ) where you chop and change managers every year or two and chuck the culture and style of each manager out with the bath water every time for a new one. This appointment has a good feel of natural progression about it.
