You do know why Jan was sacked by Essen? I can guess now. Another bonkers appointment then! Sacked because he took them into the relegation zone. So doesn't actually have one on his CV.

On the theme of memorable football club PR videos, sure a few will remember this one...

In a way it worries me more though that he's been on our radar for years. So we had thought of him as a replacement when in the championship, were now in a much better place, better team, higher profile, much bigger budget and we still go for him. Good luck to him though and hopefully he does well, just hope he has a half decent run in now to end of the season and give everyone a bit of a boost going in to the championship. If he has a dire run in then I don't think people will give him a lot of time to get things right next season. Perhaps in the couple of yrs we've been changing the face of our club, this bloke has also been maturing? Going back to your housebuilding analogy when you were criticising DW, would you hire an apprentice and after 2 yrs still have them making tea and getting the bacon sandwiches? Or would you have wanted that apprentice to have improved and be doing more meaningful stuff that you can trust them with? As I said earlier there will be the dinosaurs that will be underwhelmed... I've never said I'm underwhelmed by it. Someone commented about it saying that reassured them and for me it kind of did the opposite. That's all. As I've said, hope he does well and gets us going. Looking forward to see what changes he makes.

Anyone know why he was sacked at Essen? Difficult to say from the outside, but this is what I remember having talked to Essen fans over a few beers prior to our pre-season game there, and checking Siewert's record that season: Not sure how it is now, but I think RWE had been suffering from lack of investment for some time, more or less. For example, they had trouble in 2015/16 (the season that started with Jan Siewert as boss) in getting a shirt sponsor (they just had ESSEN on the front of their shirts). Would love to know myself why this was, I mean, as if playing in the 4th division wasn't bad enough for a city the size of Manchester, not having a shirt sponsor is quite astonishing. They get really good gates for a 4th division side 6-9000, but couldn't (and still can't) compete with the "monied" clubs in the German regional (4th) division and, I think - in part - the "big boys'" second teams. With expectations high following their 5th position the previous season, and the new manager in place, Siewert's Essen that season seemed to get off to a bad start, recovered slightly but could never hit those mid-table safety spots. Then they only had one win from something like November to April, which triggered off a lot of fan discontent as they were dangerously close to the relegation zone - they then lost 2-0 to league leaders Lotte and that was that. He didn't come up against Wagner's Dortmund II, but interestingly, Wagner's last game for Dortmund II was a 0-1 at home against TuS Erndtebrück in October 2015. Siewert's Essen beat this very same side 9-1 earlier on in the season! Obviously RW Essen fans could explain more (especially as regards to what I think amounts to competing for talent with Schalke's, Düsseldorf's, Dortmund's, B M'Gladbach's second teams), but I think that's how it basically was. Edit: For anyone interested: Against Farke's Dortmund II the score was 1-1 at the Rote Erde (Dortmund II's ground) in December 2015. Jan Siewerts's RW Essen led right up into injury time - Dortmund II's equalizer? A certain Gorenc-Stankovic. Hope JS isn't going to bear any grudges because of this! Might need Stankovic for the Championship.

Good for the club to highlight Martin from Wakefield's charity, fair play to him to do the video, even as a Man City fan! It’s made my day tbh. My lad went to Martin house after he died, spent 3 weeks in a refrigerated bedroom. They read him stories at night, put him in PJ’s, dressed him in a morning, opened his curtains, let me hold him in the private gardens a couple of times.... £300k a month to run that place I was told and it’s all charity funded. Money for war etc etc. Priceless house, fair play to Martin, fair play to Town, fair play to Jan. Oh and good luck Jan. A post the puts EVERYTHING into perspective. All my best Ben and thank you for making me crawl out of my own arse for a while.

No, you're right, I hadn't seen who this guy Martin is and what he does. Thought he was just some random fan. Brilliant cause and hopefully his organisation will benefit from it all. Though someone from Wakey should really be a Town or Ossett fan... what's he doing supporting Dubai City? I'm from Wakey. Most people round here are Leeds or Man Utd/Chelsea fans. Always found it a point of pride to be a Town fan round here. Even at Ossett Utd there's a bunch of Leeds flags around the ground...

Love the vid. Like most things (off the pitch at least) the club tends to get it right.. Being in the PL is the best way to grow the fan base but stuff like this can only help. Got to hand it to the PR team for turning a managerial change at the club at the bottom of the league into such a feelgood story.

Great quote from DH. “Like any good football club – or successful business outside football – we have succession plans in place for our key roles. A major one here is the role of head coach.
The shite recruitment department needs sorting out next

Jan Siewart wouldn’t necessarily have been my first choice, like many others I suspect, but he’s here now (and made a good first impression) so we’ll all get behind him and see where we go next. Unlikely as it is, he would become a legend in less than a quarter of a time it took David Wagner to become here if he kept us up. The King is dead, long live the King. UTT

That little video is Town all over...can you imagine Man United doing that? I would rather be in the Champs and supporting a real club than up there with all the tosspots. Most of the time I dont like you on here at all Oti. Now and again I love you. And yes I've been drinking.

Not sure if I like the video or not, it is cringy but I kinda like it also.
But I feel a bit sorry for Jan, you get a job which will be seen as a big job (into a premier League club following a well known and successful Wagner)
You'd forgive him for looking forward to an unvieling that was all about himself, it's his moment.

I thought Wakefield was Leeds territory? Odd video but original We actually have a large amount of season ticket holders with WF postcodes but that doesn't tell the whole story as some WF postcodes are within Kirklees.
