Softiesablue henceforth Yeh, they got in the ground early but we ran about 50 out of the terrace as the numbers levelled up. Pork pie hats and all. The only real kicking i ever took was Bradford away...and i was 14. Somehow stayed on my feet to a haymaker in the Chesterfield end. I was never really a hooligan but i suppose i was fascinated by it and i enjoyed the revelry and rivalry. Boys will be boys. I think you're getting your medication mixed up Oti lad I'm talking about the game down at Fratton Park mate which was a different proposition altogether to what you're on about which was the home game when Pompey ran in to the main terrace......soon to be shifted by the Town boys when the Wagon and Horses emptied at about 5 to 3 You went in the home end at Fratton Park? Are you nuts? Yes, i was talking about the home game. It was hairy for a while but about 2.45 the numbers levelled up as we were joined by a few from the Waggon and some from Bradley Mills club. The ground was still fairly empty and after a few scuffles and gaining the high ground the Pompey lads were forced on to the pitch and about 20 ran and jumped in the shed which was fairly empty as i recall. Most turned up at 5 minutes to 3 in those days! 5000 in the crowd was decent.

Not surprised really, a trip down memory road for both of them...Have they been given 40k each? and how many others go to the Prawn sarnie brigade?

Last week on the radio Sunderland announced that after selling all 40,000, they could "easily" have sold 70,000 - who do they think they are, Beeston ? As for the prawn sarnies this will be like the FA Cup semi - finals, very few neutrals in attendance so a much better atmosphere and spectacle than the FA Cup final, however I still think it's a huge mistake to hold the semis at Wembley.

Shows how far they have fallen. Saw the footage on Sky of them winning the semi final and their fans were celebrating like they'd just got to the Champions League final. It's a lower league cup final, hardly worth putting on their club 'honours list' at all really.

We're not Sunderland and at the time we'd been a lower league club for years who never dreamt of seeing our team ever play at Wembley. That's how I remember it anyway. In fact I even went to see Emley play in the FA Trophy final a few years before the Autoglass final because I couldn't ever see town getting there. Bit different IMO.

(I also did the Emley Final, for the SAME reason as you!!)

And not because Emley lost, I couldn't have cared less about that, but because 11,000 people were sat in one small area of Wembley and we were just staring across at thousands of empty seats.

When did Emley get to the FA Trophy Final? I went to see them at Kidderminster in 1991 in the quarter final - they lost 3-0 - but I never remember them getting to the final.

That may be the case in your opinion which is fair enough but I believe that any club rising, falling or none of the above is entitled to celebrate big time in getting to Wembley in any competition just as we did in 1994 when beating Carlisle 4-3 on aggregate to face Swansea in the Final...Think about the parents and Grandparents that support Sunderland and Portsmouth that have been taking their kids around the lower league grounds as lots of us have done constantly telling them about the memories of when they were good and then being able to show them first hand of how things used to be...Absolutely priceless...It didn't even matter when we lost the final...it was just about seeing our team at Wembley where some of the biggest matches in the World have taken place....It was about the occasion and so it will be for the fans of these 2 clubs and fair play to them.

It's only 11 years since Portsmouth won the FA Cup.
It's only 9 years since Portsmouth were last in the FA Cup Final.
It's only 5 years since Sunderland were in the League Cup Final.
None of which compares to Town's history and absence from Wembley prior to the Autoglass Final.
Folk breed quickly these days but I'm sure even they can remember those appearances.

Tipped this guy before....Ronan Curtis. If Pompey don’t go up I’d hope Town would be in for him.

Had a nice long chat with the two Sunderland fans we were sat next to on the train yesterday morning (spookily met one of them in McDonalds yesterday evening as well). They were saying how much more they've enjoyed this season than the two previous ones - actually going to games feeling that they had a good chance of winning them.

Fantastic turnout from two big clubs I was in sunny Whitby yesterday, crabbing so didn't get to see the game...do you know what the official attendance was? About 5,000 more than the previous record for Wolves v Burnley, 85,051 as opposed to 80, 400. Only beaten by Barcelonas 92,000 anywhere in Europe this weekend. Town v Swansea was 47,773 although to be fair it was 2 to 1 with Town fans.

Seen us in finals twice at the old Wembley and twice at the new one (plus Cardiff and Old Trafford) and I'll always have memories of those days, though the Old Trafford one I tend to push to the back of my mind
