I'm not totally sure that DH is ready to let this go. The club is financially better off than at any time and has developed a style of play (losing ) that is light years away from the "boot it up int' air" managers of the past. I'd hope that this produces better results next season. So, bigger picture, the club is in a good, secure position and will be competitive in the Championship - something that we never were. A top 6 place would be commendable and quite unbelievable to where we were 4 years ago. Back to the point - unless DH has had a sudden epiphany and his illness has really taken its toll and made him re-evaluate, I can't see him selling out, because he loves this football club as much and probably more than many of us. It is a massive gamble and he could see an implosion of all his work if he sells to an individual or consortium of dubious intent. Therefore, it may be that he is considering two options: 1. To do something that he said he would never do - bring someone else on board (with money to invest!). Retaining overall control, he can see how they operate and instil in them the traditions and ethos of the club before handing over full control at some later date. 2. To take it a stage further he may be wanting to bring in someone who can provide a bigger investment, to really pile money into the club. Again, not sure how much control he will retain, but to convince someone to do this he's going to have to charm the pants off them, and probably agree to seceding some control in future. Selling the club lock stock and barrel now doesn't seem quite right. That does seem to be a possible and viable option. It certainly makes a lot of sense, which is one thing I would give DH credit for having.

it's 3 years since Dean first revealed he was willing to sell if the right person came in and could take the club further - this isn't a new revellation it's old news... and everyone knows it. The fact he's taken Town to the PL and not been able to keep them there must surely indicate he has taken the club as far as he can and is more likely than ever to have realised he has reached his limit ? This would seem to be the 'right time' for him to now sell and why he appointed agants to seek a buyer last year ? I'm easy either way tbh but like many others on DATM I trust DH to do the right thing whichever way he decides.

Captain slapper they are all Londonish based, with much higher match day revenues Any in the know person willing to give away what they know Does it really matter where the club is if youre a foreign investor? Guess it might be an issue to some, but its not like they have to live where their club is, or even go to that many games. Many don't. Leicester were a middling championship club when that Thai guy bought them. Lots of championship clubs get snapped up by very wealthy foreigners, wherever they are geographically. Town, with parachute paymetns assured for 3 years, are an attractive club to buy into at that level IMO.
Which might set alarm bells off in DH's mind, surely? It wouldn't be unheard of for some chancer to buy a club with an eye on a guaranteed return like parachute payments.

So to sum up, it could be good, could be bad, might not be true, we’ll soon find out! Translates to knowing absolutely nothing at all! You clearly know nothing or you’d expand. Ok, well once everything comes out in the wash you or anyone else is more than welcome to pull me up on my post(s) and we will see if the info I have was right or not. For the record I have already PM'd two different people on here, so if the info I have turns out to be true then I have sufficient proof that I had foreknowledge of it (or that I was totally wrong). Either way I'll share it after any propsed takeover happens. PM me then and I'll tell you what I know.

I was star gazing the other night, and through my telescope I saw that the Cadbury's Smash Martians had re-appeared in their flying saucer over the John Smiths stadium. I could see they had a big wad of cash!

Before our promotion, we weren't anywhere near self sufficient and had to be propped up as a lower Championship to the tune of DH's growing loans to us of over £40m during the 8 years before our PL promotion. Personally I hope DH doesn't sell and his approach is continued for the duration of the parachute payment years - These years to me are the most crucial in the recent and forthcoming years and the time that many PL relegated clubs cripple themselves financially - something that I have no fear of at all under DH's stewardship. I can totally understand DH's reasons for selling (no doubt hastened by his health issues) - he likely would never have expected to be able to cash in on his previous investment but with our PL stint - he can take that chance. We owe him absolutely nothing at all and our climb up the divisions from League One is entirely down to his leadership. The price of the club needs to be high to ward off potential asset strippers but to read on here that potential purchasing parties will have to borrow those funds CANNOT be a good thing in my eyes. They may have the best intentions for the club but if they lack the financial football clout then our top flight days may become something we tell our future generations about like the 1970-1972 Town fans did for the next 45 years. Those heady days of rumours of US or Chinese investors were far less worrisome. Only time will tell I suppose.

Those heady days of rumours of US or Chinese investors were far less worrisome. Only time will tell I suppose. Very astute and sums up our current position accurately. I have been pondering why things feel far more unstable now than they have in the past 3-4 years and it comes down to the uncertainty that, potential, change brings. For all the positive things the DH era has undoubtedly brought to the club it's amazing how in a relatively short period of time things can feel very different. Don't get me wrong DH can do no more than he has, his legacy is assured, if however he is to move on it will be how that transition impacts the club where he will be judged. The old saying you are only as good as your last game was never more true. The fact is that the momentum of the DW years has definitely stalled. Although DH's illness has not helped much of what has led to our current position was determined long before he fell ill. The crux of the problem for me is that we lost our focused approach of working smartly, within our means and getting every possible advantage. In the promotion season there was a focus and identity than ran through the club from the top to the stands, and everywhere in between. It feels as though we`hit the Premier League and although the momentum of the promotion carried us through last season it couldn't be sustained this season. The instability of the DOF role who appear to underline the problem. From the outside we lost our focus and our plan. Going into the Championship we need to re-establish that focus and plan. The fact us despite all the speculation we don't know if DH is going, staying or moving aside. Whatever the decision is we need to re-establish an approach that builds on our past success and enables us to move forward again. It is interesting that the takeover speculation appears to imply that it will only be successful if any new owner has massive pockets full of cash. There is no doubt money helps but there are many examples, especially in the championship, where clubs have spent big and failed to deliver. What we do need is a coherent model that learns from the recent past and builds on it. There can be no doubt that Webber and Wagner were absolutely key in establishing this, more so than DH it could be argued. It is true that this cannot be repeated but it is equally true that it is a model that can be used to build from again. We should be demonstrably looking to develop from that foundation, revolution is not required, evolution is. Obviously neither Webber or Wagner are here and there is a question if we have the correct personnel with the right credentials to take us on again. Many will question if Siewert is that man (there is a whole thread on this) but whoever is steering the ship needs to set the course and select the crew. My biggest worry at the moment, and it may be entirely unfounded, is that we think we have reached the limit of our potential. The "it was a great ride", "at least we had our Premier League experience", "it was a moment in time" is lovely for reminiscing but absolutely hopeless for progression. What happened to #nolimits? What happened to Terrier Spirit? Yes it was a different time but the ethos is still true, it cannot be forgotten. Whoever is in charge, I hope it is DH but understand if he's calling time, doesn't need to throw cash at the team (although sensible and quality investment would be no bad thing) but they need to re-establish an agenda for progression. The opportunity is still here for this club, we need to believe again and look to grasp it. The Premier League door is closing, but it doesn't mean we can't go through it again. I sense the fans believe, if not demand, this is possible....the club needs to show they also believe. The past is a nice memory, the future is to be taken.

Agree entirely Dugnet. Good post.
I sometimes think (and I don't include myself) some fans should be consulted by the club on a regular basis to gauge feeling.
I'm sure large companies do (?). A bit like.... ''How are we doing? / What are we doing right?/ What are we doing wrong?'' etc
We seem very insular at the moment. Not asking for the days of 'Jackass' and 'SMJ' posting on here just a little more communication and communication is a two way street.

But the club seem to pay lip service to it really especially at times like this. Obviously not asking for the nuts and bolts of everything inside the club but just an overview or a 'comment'.
It was eventually done regarding Deans recent illness and it worked. People were happy to be kept in the picture and respected his requests for privacy. Just a thought really.

I think there is a forum already in place for this....although I've heard sod all about any meetings since before xmas ? www.htafc.com/siteassets/pdfs/11.02.19-att-voices-panel-meeting-notes.pdfPanel asked if the Terrier dog was being used next season Marketing Manager advised this was only on the shirts for one year but would continue to be used in other areas of the Club.
Ann Hough asked the Panel what their views on clappers were? Do we carry on using them, it is a cost to produce, what designs do you want to see on them Panel gave their views, suggestions were only in the Family Stand, hand them out at the turnstiles to those fans who want them, carry on with them as part of the match day now, would decrease the atmosphere if we didn’t use them Panel member commented that he thought the players were not as engaging with the supporters are previously Andy Booth advised that extremely hard when not winning matches, from his perspective players don’t think the supporters want them to go over and to clap them when you have lost as they feel they have let the fans down.
Panel asked if the Panel could be more involved with decisions i.e. season card details, badge consultation, kit as previously, advised they are happy to be used as a ‘sounding board’ Ann Hough commented that the Club appreciate the feedback and value the support from the VP. Over the last number of months been difficult due to the circumstances at the Club to consult
Two comments from me on this. 1) Actually saddens me a bit that Andy Booth as an ex pro carries that thought, as it’s from someone who has been there and felt it. Personally, after a defeat I feel MORE empathy to the players who do come round and applaud the fans...it’s an acknowledgement that they appreciate we’ve performed from the stands (if we have) and it seems quite a humble gesture. Nobody is going to start hurling coins or booing them for clapping the fans at the end of the game and maybe getting a bit of mutual support back in recognition of their efforts. We KNOW they want to win every game but we also know that we”re not the greatest team in football, the world has ever seen. 2) “difficult to engage with the fans because of the circumstances at the club over the last number of months” ? Erm...what circumstances make the fans forums difficult??? Is this guarded acknowledgement of an impending takeover?? 🤷♂️🤔 Could a member of the panel maybe explain more completely what Ann was talking about?

Does it really matter where the club is if youre a foreign investor? Guess it might be an issue to some, but its not like they have to live where their club is, or even go to that many games. Many don't. Leicester were a middling championship club when that Thai guy bought them. Lots of championship clubs get snapped up by very wealthy foreigners, wherever they are geographically. Town, with parachute paymetns assured for 3 years, are an attractive club to buy into at that level IMO.Surely we are only NOW an attractive proposition with the parachute payments coupled with saleable assets and a reducing wage bill - even moreso should those assets wages come off the wage bill - for someone who wishes to profit from our club - i.e. an asset stripper. Those heady days of rumours of US or Chinese investors were far less worrisome. Only time will tell I suppose. Theres more than one way to profit from investing in our club though. Potentially it could be an asset stripper and we'll have to trust dean to guard as best he can against selling to someone like that ( make sure he doesn;t start referring to us as 'the Blue and Whites' and declare himself the saviour of sport in Huddersfield- that sort of thing!!) . But we are also attractive, now, to someone who might hope for a return on his investment by getting the club back to, and then establishing it in, the premier division. Theres potentially a lot more money to be made down that line than the asset stripping one. With the parachute payments an investor like that will obviously find the guarantee of roughly £50m income for these next 2 years very appealing as its going to make that job of going back up much more feasible. But we'll probably have to accept that unlike Dean, the next owner of HTFC won;t be doing it out of love for the club, but to make himself some money. So long as he wants to do that by making the club successful, then IMO thats all we can hope for.

'Theres potentially a lot more money to be made down that line than the asset stripping one'. How? It seems a bottomless pit to me for a club our size Its certainly a bottomless pit in the championship long term. Pretty much every club is in that division. But if you can get yourself in the prem then the money you get coming in is huge. The value of the club goes up, the value of its assets ( the players ) goes up. If you can establish your club in the prem, then in terms of an investment, there must be huge value in that. Id agree though that the concerns of asset stripper are genuine and understandable. With a guaranteed income of £50m-£60m for the next couple of years and a playing squad with several players who could be sold off for many more millions, then its an obvious and easy way to make money. Think weve just got to trust dean and hope he sells to the right people. He'll definitely want to.

Really hope it's sorted this week -
1 so DH gets a great send off 2 so the inertia that's gripping the club is ended and we can move forward. It currently reminds me of the end of that Barnsley game a few years ago
