17' GOAL #kleeblatt 1-0 #htafc: The German side takes the lead. Keita-Ruel charges down a Coleman clearance and the ball bounces into the back of the net. Bloody Coleman again Said many times last season both Hamer and Coleman are nothing near the required standard. Coleman with the ball at his feet especially is a liability. You obviously didn't see Coleman in the game at Southampton then when he had no issues whatsovever with playing it out from the back.

But I did see him in a few games at championship level when he was a mistake in waiting often. I’m not convinced he’s improved much there. He did also appear to slip down the pecking order at a league 1 side when on loan

Coleman just cleared a backpass and almost inevitably found one of their players. I mean do these players not have brains?

Looks like Makasi from West Ham is a realistic prospect to sign

Not sure what it is. Whatever it is, it’s not the Town badge! Thought it would be unlikely he’d have one. It's a bruise he got in training after a particularly vicious tackle by Collin. The doctor was amazed at the million to one coincidence of it looking like a pub team's club badge.

1-1 decent football played from Town to be fair, some clear cob webs to be blown off but we were by far the better team.
There goal was a mistake from Coleman and threatened very little after.

Missed the first half, caught the second half from just before Grant scores. Composed finish by Grant. Looked like he also had a free header soon after. Then after the 10 changes, looked like we struggled to get traction in midfield and couldn’t hold onto the ball. Col missed a 1v1 and Kachunga beat a couple to get into the box but couldn’t find a pass. Then it was a few free kicks around our box for SVG which they didn’t do much to test our keeper.
Very distinct style from what I saw, more about the quick break than holding onto the ball.

Disagree the closer it gets to the season but today it doesn't really matter, winning is a habit and the quicker you get into the habit the better.

Woke up and tuned in 65 minutes in so didn't get to see the first group. A few observations: 1. I was a little concerned about bringing in Makasi but if he plays like that I'd be surprised if he isn't signed. Very physical. Could backup Hogg. 2. If Stankovic is being moved back to CB then we likely just need more depth to spell Kongolo at LB to shore up the defense (unless anyone other than zanka and Smith leave). Jaden Brown wasn't involved much so can't say if he's good enough to be a second option but would like competition for him. 3. Bockhorn clearly wasn't used to the level of competition. Like his attacking mindset but gave away possession cheaply a number of times

Not that I recall but even if he did folk are trying to discredit Coleman based on very little evidence. Our first choice keeper last season made a number of cock-ups which led to goals and he ended up with a three year contract at Everton. Coleman for me is a capable keeper at this level.

One thing we've definitely learned from that is...A new keeper is a priority.

I disagree in a way. Maybe at a pinch in an emergency, but he's simply not at the level we need in the Championship over a run of games. He could prove me wrong though.

Thought my mind wasn’t playing tricks with me...🙂 “With 12 minutes played Joel Coleman made a mess of clearing Danny Ings’s through-ball. The keeper, who spent part of the season on loan at League One Shrewsbury, raced out of his area and hit the ball against his teammate Jon Gorenc Stankovic, leading to Shane Long lobbing narrowly off target from distance” He has made quite a few ricks but I think you have to accept that not all keepers are going to be comfortable with the ball at their feet. If Coleman is such a player then he should be allowed to hoof it rather than trying to be Messi with it. If he can keep the ball out of the net the rest of the time that’ll do for me.

How was the performance lads? Decent game to be honest, bit of a scrap too with Hoggy getting some retribution for a foul on Diakhaby that wasn't given moments before. Might have seen him and their chap sent off in a competitive game. Coleman fault for the goal, bitterly disappointed in himself at the end. New centre half Elphick bollocked Flo 'where the f are you? Your a f'ing idiot' When he didn't track back. En route to Brixen now. Town fans all seem to be having a great time, sun finally out. Plenty of beer supped and more to come! I'd highly recommend coming out here if Town ever come again,

Bacuna looks excellent so far. Edmonds green and Bockhorn making some great tackles. Reece brown also looking promising. Not a bad start to the game.
