Let's say that was Edmonds-Green making his senior debut, would Jan put him in the team the following game? I seriously doubt it. Should Elphick we in the team on Saturday after a debut like that? He should be nowhere near the team, he was horrendous all game. Grabara Bockhorn Kongolo Shindler Hadergjonaj Hogg Mooy O'Brien Diakhaby Grant Pritchard That's the starting 11 I'd go with on Saturday although the rest of them shouldn't feel too comfortable keeping their places & need to really step it up aswell. I'd go with R Brown rather than O'Brien as I think he might be more attacking. That's a fair point & I was surprised he wasn't even on the bench last night after being one of the better performers in pre-season.

It's not so much the results we are craving we are just wanting something anything on the playing side what we can see improvement in and we have seen nothing since this man as arrived

Anyone who is still optimistic after that is truly wearing the rose tinted specs. Nothing positive to take from that game at all. Derby had us in their pockets from start to finish and deserved the win. Yes, second half was better than the first....but we failed to score.......sound familiar? It was just awful to watch. All over the place as a team, and really poor as individuals. I'm not sure our better players are taking the pay cut that well. Mooy, Kongolo, Schindler.....poor performances from players who should be showing leadership. I don't think Jan is the man. Not tactically astute enough. Clearly not worrying about the strengths of the opposition is working out well. That's a dangerous game when their players are better than yours. The way we ignored Lawrence absolutely sums that up. Not a single one of our players could have done what he did last night. Not a knee-jerk reaction.....just calling it as I saw it. I don't think it's worth defending the indefensible.....it masks the truth, which is.........we were shite.

And where the hell was RVLP our best player, ffs, fuming ! RVLP never has been and never will be our best player Nick, and you know it. Obviously not doing it in training (or less likely injured) or he would have been in the squad.. Wagner dumped him for a reason, Pulis didn’t play him for a reason. He was not in the first team squad on Monday for a reason, and no amount of dreamy-eyed wishing from you will turn him into a Dutch Messi. Or even a Quaner, come to that. Out on loan again at Xmas unless we have massive injury problems with our wingers. Although I admit that our current wingers play at times like they already are injured....

I don't think he's trying to be funny. It's just an expression.

That's not what he meant all, it's a turn of phrase. If he scored an own goal with his head & then came out & said they need to keep their heads down in training would you think he was taking the piss?

Bacuna was absolute shite!!! Cause he won the penalty and Elphick having a mare he seems to be getting away with it.
What worries me about that is who could you replace him with. Next Tuesday i assume we will rest everyone for the Friday game, which 3 players are we expecting to playing in midfield. A massive hole in the squad that i’m praying we do something about with an inspired loan from the Premier League.

My first choice defence would be to drop the shocking Elphick and flo bo.
Bockhorn Schindy Stankovich Kongolo

Just seen their second goal again. The amount of bad touches and overhit/lucky passes in that build up that we just couldn't quite get to was ridiculous. It felt like it at the time and that kind of proves it but everything seemed to come off for them last night. Lawrence won't have another game like it all season

In my opinion it isn’t a mentality thing, it’s a coaching/formation thing. There is no point our wingers busting a gut to get down the wing to have either no one in the box or only Grant. Where are the bodies getting forward to help the winger? I think you're right about it being a coaching thing, but the problem goes deeper. We put an emphasis on keeping possession and passing to feet, this means the players aren't moving when they receive the ball and are susceptible to being caught in possession. This is then compounded by the fact that other than Pritchard and VLP our attackers don't want the ball to feet, they want it into space for them to move onto. Yes, Hadergjonaj's crosses were poor, but we did get him into positions where he could have delivered. Good point. I noted this last night and actually commented on it during the game, when we pass our players are generally stood still, waiting for the pass and then moving. Derby players (or most other teams) receive a pass when they are moving, which gives the player momentum, without having to build momentum up from a stood position, like Town players. This could be a major problem in this division but I suppose time will tell.

This could be a major problem in this division but I suppose time will tell. Front foot football. Sometimes even under Wagner the emphasis was placed hugely on ball to a static player, without the player then moving himself to offer options. In the second half down our right Hogg played a ball for Diakhaby which skipped out for a goal-kick. Though the intention was good, the execution was poor, but what was more frustrating was that the ball should have been played to feet on that occasion as Diakhaby had space in front to attack the full-back who had become isolated. We made so many poor choices last night when it seemed we had got ourselves into promising positions, something Derby in the first half certainly didn't do.

Lawrence won't have another game like it all season When I looked at his wiki page I was surprised to see his career stats. He could of course just be maturing to his peak capabilities & we caught it on a night when his confidence would have been sky high after 2 quick goals. Both great goals from his perspective I should add, the first wasn't too shabby a finish... In general I agree with your sentiment, he might not have another game like that one last night & maybe there's a few daft clubs out there with £10-15m jangling around and willing to take a punt on him in the next 48h. I always relate this transfer window madness to that occasion when we ran a then PL top 2 side close in the league cup & they bought one of our players purely on the back of one or two games against them, or it certainly seemed like that. Imagine how much McAlliskey would have gone in that same scenario after those 2 late goals he scored...

Anyone got highlights that includes the Diakhaby run where he should have squared to Pritchard early on? Only highlights I’ve seen start on Elphicks error

Yeah and that said players career nose dived and he ended up working at Crosslee tumble dryer factory with my mate in Hipperholme. If it's the one I think you're on about.
