What was said to him? For the benefit of those of us who aren't on Twatter... The exact words (no punctuation involved) from a Charlton fan identifying as Harry Evans were, "Fuck off you fucking rapist you c*** hope you fucking die on the way home you fucking c***" Sounds like a right charmer...

Ah, that old style, warm, engaging Greenwich wit. Makes one proud to be British. I take it that the said Harry Evans isn't the journalist and former editor of the Sunday Times....

Who scored? We won 1-0. Know where you’re coming from on Grant and Mounie, throw Campbell into that game for either of them and I am convinced we would have won a lot earlier than the 90th minute. Grant contributes very little OTHER THAN GOALS, so he’s worth a bit of leeway, but he does have a tendency to just run the ball down a black hole until he loses it, where there is usually a decent ball to release to someone in a better position. Agreedl Grant has a pass on his other activities as he's there to score goals and does. He won't score every game.. Campbell I love his effort but we have Kach for that. We need a Striker that can score which Campbell never has. January we need a property striker, not a stop gap. With his minutes on pitch, Campbell has scored or assisted effectively a goal every two games. That’s a perfectly fine contribution especially when you add the positives he brings even when he isn’t scoring...such as putting absolute shits up opposition players that they’re going to get hurt, firing up those of our team that need a gung ho character to pull them along and getting the crowd fired up. Imagine Campbell playing against Kongolo and Diakhaby etc, he’d walk straight through them.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already. It was nice touch by the senior players to push Matty Daly forward during the post game celebrations so that he could get the plaudits from the away end on his own. Good that he looked modest too - exactly the kind of humble attitude the Cowleys expect!

Four goals from 750 corners!! If that’s right that is funnily ridiculous ( if that makes sense). I had to just look this up in "The Numbers Game" - Anderson & Sally. Mourinho was perplexed when he first came to the PL when the crowd roared on the award of a corner, because the crowd think that corners are the next best thing to a goal - they are not. Although shots on goal lead to more corners, the data from PL and EFL show that the award of more corners doesn't mean more goals. Shots on goal following a corner only occur after 20.5% of corners, or a shot for every 5 corners near enough. Only 11% of these shots (say 1 in 9) results in a goal. Therefore, yes, if we have scored only 4 goals after 750 corners then this is below average, but I'd be grateful if you could point me to the figures here, but don't bother if it isn't readily available. Hence, we should have scored 4 goals after about 200 corners. In Town's defence, I bet our goals to corner average took a real hit in the two seasons in the PL, and I'm sure in the last 2.5 seasons we've had more goals scored against us following our award of a corner due to quick breaks, than we scored. Also, this is why Barcelona never wallop a corner into the penalty area, but always play it short. Do Town have the discipline to play a corner back to the half way line and build the attack from scratch - I doubt it, but it would eradicate the counter-attack. More importantly than goals we don't score from corners, is the goals that we concede from corners. I believe that we are the highest in the Championship this season, at 10. Rather than addressing why our corner crosses don't clear the first man, it might be best to start by investigating why other teams score so many corners against us. Sorry - the stats I wrote were incorrect. I had a ‘number muddle’ which isn’t great as I teach maths. The correct figure based on our last 100 league games is, I believe, 7 goals from 450 corners and NOT 4 from 750. This comprises: 2019/20 21 games 104 corners 0 goals 2018/19 38 games 162 corners 2 goals 2017/18 38 games 165 corners 5 goals 2016/17 last 3 games 19 corners 0 goals I can’t vouch precisely for the figures but I think they are very close or exact.

It looks as though we're not quite as bad as we think we are to say we have lost so many games in the last couple of seasons. Of course in top flight history some teams concentrated on scoring from set pieces and corners - Stoke under Pulis, Watford under Taylor and Wimbledon. I'd like to know what D & NC's thinking is on this.

The problem for us is that whatever you do you need someone who can deliver the ball where you want it, and that's what we lack.

Not skillful enough to play a short corner every time and keep possession a la Barcelona, and not skilful enough to put a decent corner in.

The Cowleys are obviously very good coaches and I'm sure they are working on dead ball delivery and crossing in general. It has been a major weakness of ours for too long. I would say though, recently our crossing has improved a bit. The problem has been missing the chances created. How many good headed chances have we missed in recent matches? That suggests progress as previously we weren't even creating that sort of chance in the first place.

Koroma’s crossing decent and Flo better on the left. Grant’s corners were too long French over hit.
