In their 2-1 home win, on Sunday, over Blackburn Rovers, Town again showed the fighting spirit that was evident in the previous win over Nottingham Forest and that was notable by its absence on Boxing Day. Comparing recent home and away performances it is clear that the team are set up to play far more defensively when on the road but, I would argue, that this is not a good strategy. Having said that, the revival under the Cowleys continues apace and the team now has a safety buffer of seven points above the drop zone.
New Year's Day brings a visit from fellow strugglers Stoke City. The Bet365 owned club lie 21st, two places below the Terriers and, on 21 points, only goal difference currently keeps them from the relegation places. The Potters have had something of a revival following the appointment of Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill on 8 November. Since then they have taken 13 points from his 10 games in charge. In the reverse fixture on 1 October, a late Juninho Bacuna goal sealed a first Town win under Manager Danny Cowley – and a first since February for the Club. The Midlands outfit don't travel well and have a fairly dismal 2-1-9 away record. Both sides have much to play for so I expect another feisty encounter from which I see us emerge with a point.

It won't be easy but we need to target a win here. A born again super Steve might make the difference.

Another big game and another game that we will be looking for 3 points from. It will be nice to win two on the trot. UTT

Tough game both to play and to call. Can see Stoke pulling out all the stops here - for them it's a "must not lose game".

I said early on that Boro, Town, and Stoke would finish mid table, despite their respective poor starts. It's beginning to look that way now.
I fancy another 3 (6) points from this one.

If we win this we will be on 31 points and getting relegated from that position at the beginning of January is nigh on impossible, even for Town.

And for that reason, coupled with yesterdays result, would not be upset with a draw. And yes, always want a win of course, and it is certainly achievable, but would be okay with another point at this stage.

Just beaten a good forest team and Blackburn without Playing anything special imo. Imo we will beat Stoke. I dont think any other manager would have got the recent record the Cowleys are doing here, they are showing why they have been successful !

Tough game but they all are. We're good at home and they struggle away. 2-0 town.

If we do win this one, then we could be 8 pts off the playoffs and 10 pts off relegation ! In danger of getting carried away here but with a few players brought into key areas in January and I wouldn't be surprised to see us in or around the play-offs.

It could be worth a bet though? 🤔😉 We won't go down now, I've seen enough from the Cowleys to see that but you must admit after them first few games you'd had to have us nailed on relegation certainties, we've dodged a bullet. What I will say is, for next season get your 100 notes on promotion, these guys will take us back to the PL.

It's unbelievable that stoke is not fighting for promotion with the players they have.

It's unbelievable that stoke is not fighting for promotion with the players they have. Probably the same issues weve had. Players who cant be arsed and think they are bigger than the club and the division and shit recruiting and management. Before the transfer dealings the players we went down with on paper should of been a squad challenging for auto. It's about building a decent team with the right attitude not individuals with percieved ability.

Fucking tossers! I was looking for any ticket deals earlier today, so I’d definitely have taken the boy down on Weds at £2.50 a throw. As it stands there’s absolutely no chance of me paying out £45 for the pair of us, I was hoping for a £10/£5 offer. Stoke? I hope they go fucking bust...

Hmm, but unlike ourselves, their big-money signings are playing Doesn't mean they want to be there though does it as we well know with the likes of Kongolo etc. With a weaker management team layabouts like him would still be playing in our starting 11 based purely on his valuation whilst hes still not giving a toss whether we win, lose or get relegated again. Stoke are a similar size club to us in a not very fashionable part of the country and now playing in a lower league. Best thing they could do is have a clear out of the over priced over hyped twats with no fight or passion in them.

It's unbelievable that stoke is not fighting for promotion with the players they have. In reality they have similar players to ours. Either overrated or wantaways. Only difference is we now have a decent manager that's brought some stability into the club.
