Back in 70-72 we used to have quite a large Leeds contingent watching our games particularly when we were playing their top of the table rivals in the old Div 1. I witnessed matches at Leeds Road where several hundred Leeds fans would actually be cheering us on!!!!!! Unfortunately, now that we are seen as their main rivals we don't tend to get the same level of support from them ;D. Hull 4 Leeds 0 is at least trying to address the balance, or is perhaps just an advocate of pure football.

So some of the town fans hate Leeds, and lots of the Leeds fans hate town, I was sat in the east stand upper tier when we tanned your backsides, and the Leeds fans we're raging. Leeds fans don't hate town, you'd love them to but they don't. Of course our fans were raging, it was a shocking result and terrible performance against a very ordinary team. Ordinary, yeah of course.... I must admit that Leeds are extraordinary, premier league crowds, massive stadium (although it is a skip), hugely wealthy chairman, team worth 20million, and you play football in division 3 and get beaten on a regular basis. Amazing.

Leeds fans are weak supporters.
They have a very loyal core of 15,000 fans - and credit to them. Considering the size of the city - 750,000 including surrounding areas, getting just 20,000 is pretty embarassing for a city with just one team, in fact the largest in europe with just one team. They just like to feel sorry for themselves, blame bates, mcalsiter, ridsdale etc - anyone but themselves who fail to turn up week by week.
Like it or not, their crowd increased by 12,000 to watch town last season and even more above average this season. I understand the thrice champions and their illustrious neighbours were visiting but increasing your crowd by 12,000 and then claiming its the opponents cup final makes me chuckle! ;D
Anyway, enough about our lowly neighbours.

I think a tell tale sign of how we feel about each other is when our respective scores are announced at half time.
I'm led to believe that if Leeds are losing a loud cheer goes up at the farm, whereas if town are losing not even a flicker, in fact there is often a slight cheer if you are winning, especially against a team near the top of the table.
Sorry, I know you'd like it to be reciprocated but it isn't and never will be.

There used to be a lot of families in West Yorks who often watched both teams, and many families were and still are split with fans of both teams especially from the Heavy Woollen area.
Dad/Grandad were Town fans from our greatest years and sons Leeds when they were a great side.
In the early 1970's you could watch 1st Division football (Premiership) every Saturday in West Yorks for a pittance.
I would average 35-40 games a season then -up to 30 Town games and 5 or 6 a season at Leeds and sometimes Man U.
My allegance was always with Town especially when we played each other.
I used to say that I would like 10 Yorkshire teams in the First Div(Premiership) as long as Town were top.

Did you you not hear both Man u and Chelsea fans combine in a loud and prolonged chorus of "we all hate Leeds scum" in the champions league final? They were playing in the biggest club game in world football yet they were still singing about a little third division club who aren't even their rivals anymore. There, I bit. ;D

it's part of following one of Englads biggest clubs *coughcoughsnigger* bit rich comin from someone whose team used to be capable of getting big crowds of about 40k,but now struggles to get 20k home fans at games unless theyre playing someone like us,despite leeds being a big place with plenty of people who cud go to bellend road, but who dont, because they kno ur team is rubbish, plays in a dilapidated old skip, has enough thugs that masquerade as fans, and are generally hated by everyone except their own fans

Town wouldnt have 900 fans willing to travel to Brighton, never mind 3000 that apply for tickets

That fact that you still think Chelsea are your 'rivals' is brilliant. Man U i can accept because its more of a city thing than on a football level (these days) but quite why you think your rivals with Chelsea I do not know.
And like has already been said, you'll find fans up and down the country singing we all hate leeds scum, so dont try and make out its some exclusive Man U/Chelsea rivalry fest!
