Why? Why on earth do we have to have songs for players' names? What's the point? Am I missing something?

Why? Why on earth do we have to have songs for players' names? What's the point? Am I missing something? To show our appreciation for them playing well? To show they are well liked amongst the supporters? Pick them up if they make a mistake? Reward their good piece of play with their very own song? To have a larger variety of songs to keep the atmosphere going? At least thats how i see it.

Why? Why on earth do we have to have songs for players' names? What's the point? Am I missing something? I remember standing on the kop at anfield in the 70's, and during the warm up ( kick in ) that only lasted for five minutes before the the kick off, every player was greeted with their own ditty. I suppose it showed harmony / idolisation between the crowd and the team and was just another way of showing their support. Bit like us greeting glennon / clarke / williams / goodwin / ( insert any name you care ) with a delightful chorus of boos and a rendition of Fcuk off home you fat tw@t i suppose If it creates a good atmosphere then who cares, it's better than slagging someone off, or another team who we aren't even playing.

Its hard as f*ck to get new songs going though, I tried a few on Saturday in't South Stand but was soon drowned out by a rendition of one of our usually ones. Plus folk look at you like you've just been let out of the nut house when your stood singing on your own
