Hw was worried because apart from their last couple of signings their team is littered with fancy dan championship players. I expect jim goodwin to ruff a few players up tomorrow. Come on Town we can do it.

Not sure we have anyone capable of roughing anyone up. I worry about Goodwin tomorrow. They're a decent team on good form and will probably put us under spells of pressure, which are the times when Goodwin tends to turn invisible. Hes going to have to play a sight better than he did against Peterborough and Leicester during spells when they were on top.
But if Lucas turns out to be anything like a natural goalscorer, then id expect us to beat anyone in this division. We create chance after chance in most games so hopefully hes the final, crucial, peice of the jigsaw. He'd struggle to not be a big step-up from Hamble and Gemima anyway!

Can't agree with Goodwin going missing when other teams start to dominate, for me it's more a case of the other midfielders not being the type to get stuck in. Then we get the age old town problem of the defence getting deeper and deeper and starting to panic. I'm hoping that with us now having so much pace upfront that teams won't gamble on pushing as many players so far forwards.

Gooders was in the thick of the action but was a bit like General Custer at times. He certainly never went missing!

Sorry but he wasn't. Very good when were on top, but doesn't do enough when we're not for me. Ok hes not helped by his centre midfield partner who certainly isn't the type to close down and tackle. The best defensive game Goodwins played in his run in the team was at Elland Road, so hopefully thats a marker of what he'll do again tomorrow.

Perhaps we should get Worthy back in? Let me guess his first touch would be a lunging tackle earning a yellow and then he would be restricted for the rest of the game! I don't understand your dis-like of Goodwin who IMO is a proven championship player who brings so much more to the table than Worthy. I still have great respect for Worthy but I feel at best he is an average League 1/2 player.

I've allways been a big fan of worthington as well as Goodwin, but I agree for me Goodwin offers a bit more in terms of passing ability. I was convinced 2 or 3 years ago worthy would go on to play at a higher level but he hasn't kicked on at all for me. Sorry to say it but I don't think he'll be here next season.

Who mentioned Worthy ( who by the way has a better booking record-but lets not let facts get in the way !) Worthy's not an option, but of the two, his defensive side is superior to Goodwins IMO as Goodwin's attacking side is superior to Worthy's. I don't have a dislike of Goodwin at all. I like him, like his attitude and rate him as a player when we're the dominant side. I just don't particularly rate him when the other team is on top, and the various spells thats happened lately ( not too often fortunately) have only strengthened my belief. BTW, not sure where you get that hes a 'proven' championship player. Proven, as in he played 1 season there in a team that got relegated, and was almost unanimously not rated by any of their fans. My over-riding thought on this is that if/when we go up, its a position we will need to bring in a better player to fill.

A rather simplistic approach from me(leaves self wide open for gags!!) I like Worthington. I like Goodwin. Defensively, probably Worthington(just! his bookings record has been gone into a million times but still isn't as bad as Goodwins!!) Distribution, Goodwin Overall, probably Goodwin, think Worthington needs to move on to move on if that makes sense. I still think Clark will improve in this area in the summer and would certainly have to if we were in championship.

I like Goodwin but its a shame we don't have Worthington available tomorrow to have in the squad, just the type of game he thrives on. He was superb last year at home (until being very harshly sent off). Mind you Goodwin was brilliant at Elland Road so hopefully we won't miss Worthington at all.

They are different types of players!
Worthy is a box-to-box midfielder, whereas Goodwin mainly plays a holding role. If Worthy could improve on his shooting.... ;D

I think after Roberts Goodwin has been Towns best player and he needs to be helped out more by Collins who dosn't get stuck in at all.

It hasnt helped that when we are under pressure we cant just hoof the ball upfront and keep hold of it. With lightweight Parker and Jevons, the ball just kept coming back! Goodwin was fighting a lost cause against Peterborough.

Defending starts from the front. Unfortunately we havn't had a front at all when Parker and Jevons have been upfront. I rate Goodwin highly both defensively and in an attacking sense. One man alone cannot halt the pressure of an entire team, which is practically what is being demanded of him at the moment!

Couldn't agree more balding. Hopefully with new, quick and energetic wingers and forwards we should start to defend from the top, hold and use the ball better in their half and get a bit of the 'best form of defence is attack' thing going on!

Nah, Goodwin over Worthington any time for me. If nothing else he can pick a man out 40yds away on the wing reasonably often. Worthy would be lucky to tell you which *stand* it was going to end up in
