My mate asked Smithies directly if he was going to stay at the away game at Yeovil. Smithies said he was staying and that he had the final say, not his agent. Glad he's stuck to his word. This can only be good news for Town. Great!

I only remember Nathan Clarke: Liverpool/Aston Villa. Holdsworth and Mirfin I read about on here but the credibility of some posts on here is debatable (Shearer/Keegan/Fonseca/Wanchope/Lita/Ameobi/Given/Carrol ) so whether the rumours were accurate is another thing. I think Smithies is already the best academy graduate we have ever produced and probably will produce for a while. Stead is another striker who doesn't score many, the rest are at our level or below.

Nathan Clarke was due to go to Villa (first season) for a fee rising to 3.5 million - although that bit may be inaccurate. Then his knee got knacked for almost a year
