Huddersfield has produced some great riders, Grant, Whitham, Sykes etc. Yes, you'd leave me for dead on the straights but I reckon I'd gve you a run for your money on the twisty bits. The thundercat is a good bike with great handling and it's not slow either. I'd like to get a blade or R1 but can't afford it with 3 kids and uncle Ken's prices.

Superyank Ben Spies seems to have started on fire in the Wsb this time round, I just hope Tommy Sykes can get up there too. I used to absolutely love Moto Gp when I was a kid, the era of Schwantz, Doohan, Gardner, Rainey, Mamola, Lawson. Kevin Schwantz was my favourite on his no.34 lucky strike suzuki, all or nothing! I also remember the mad axe murderers in the 125cc class, Nobby Ueda, Tetsuya Harada, Ralf Waldmann, Nobyuki Wakai! Some fair memories!

Nice one, who would have thought that we'd have something in common, I was always a Schwantz man too, but go back even further to the Sheene, Roberts, Mamola era. Yes, Spies looks the real deal but I hope Haga can finally win the title this time, and I expect Sykesy to get a win or two later in the season. Anyway, better leave it there as most on here won't be interested!

Po Boys banging out some tunes, first year I went, I walked past Carl Fogarty on my way in, think he may well have been WSB champion back then. Saw Chris Walker there too, the following year. Anyway, this is a football forum. Ahem.

Top man is Whitham, met him a few times and a mate of mine used to race against him, to come back from cancer and compete at the highest level was truly inspirational. He has just bought a house down the road from my sister in Lockwood too apparently.

No no, you won't get away that easily, from now on every weekend until November I will be hounding you with motorcycling memories and opinions. Such as my dislike for Fogarty, my thoughts on how Haga made a mistake leaving Yamaha when the Big bang R1 has just come out and how Tom Sykes should learn to curb his grin!

No problem mate, look forward to it, might be forced off topic though! Haven't time now but I'll just say that I have a dislike for Fogarty too. Later.

Incidentally Granty was from Wakefield originally,he moved to a House he had built on the old Lepton Edge Colliery site, years ago..probably moved on now! Was only kidding fella. ;D only use it for a trip up to the moors or a bacon sarnie at Whitby, not a serious rider anymore, in fact I always go to superbike and GP meetings in the car because my lad is into it and not allowed to take him on the back! (I used to go to Cadwell on the back of my dad's T140 Bonneville in the 70's as a 6 or 7 year old though!). Shame you are giving it up, I had a few years without a bike myself, last one I had was an FZ750, and before that a 350 YPVS (bit of a Yamaha man). Anyway, good luck with selling your stuff mate. And how could I forget Mez Mellor? Great rider.

I had an FZ750 brand spanking new from Eddys, when I lived in Gipton.Eddy had a Kawasaki Showroom at the roundabout near the Lion and Lamb Pub,was going up there for a few bits, trying it out like..1st ride, bloke at the counter said some one wants a word,I turned and saw a M/cycle cop who,d followed up York Rd.he said nice bike is it as good as they say.I said good job I was coming here, cos you would never have caught me,and I,m only running it in.he said Aye but slow down lad and give us all a chance!got on his beemer and rode off Those were the days ...Swopped it for a Honda VF1000..Big mistake wouldn,t go round corners took it to the Isle of Man Went round course with pillion 28minutes.Met Mez and his gaffer.next year the lad got killed went to his funeral Whit and Granty b....We forgot Jamie Robinson and Tom Tunstall and there,s another new lad on the block, forgot his name...Ride on!
