and everybody wonders where this club is goin wrong?!! people voting for roberts wats all that about? he is a one footed pony who gives the ball away 8 times out of ten. garbage man!!! Can't be that bad seeing as though he is our top scorer and leading the assist table at the same time. If he was an academy graduate he'd have double the current tally (Only kidding lets not start that arguement again! ;D)

Alex Smithies for me. Different class considering his age. But I could have chosen about 4 or 5 there. Roberts, Pilks, Clarke, Cads. Its anyones trophy.

Best player I've seen in Town shirt was Martin Kelly yesterday - he looked like a thoroughbred among a set of donkeys and was the only bright spark in a really miserable performance..

Alex 'lucky' Smithies? Was it Napoleon who said 'Don't give me good generals, give me lucky ones' Same applies to keepers and Smithies certainly falls into the LUCKY category. I've lost count of the number of cock-ups and blunders he's done and got away with. Must average over 1 a game, getting on for 2. The only spilled cross or misjudged rush for the ball I can remember us getting punished by was the first at carlisle.
If Matty Glennon made half the errors Smithies does, he would have got absolute PELTERS on here

If had been Glennon belting out of his net and leathering thin air, leaving an open net, like Smithies on Saturday, we'd never have heard the end of it.

Indeed. There seemingly hasn't even been one thread on it?! If it was Glennon, there'd be 4 or 5.
I've long said it ... Smithies is no better than Glennon, in fact - he makes more errors ... and I'd never have dropped Glennon (of course he's now injured). Smithies is a talented young 'keeper, but people are being very short-sighted when it comes to rating him, I reckon.

Smithies is a better shot-stopper and has better positioning.
Glennon isnt much better than SMithies at anything.

But I think the one key factor that you guys seem to be forgetting is that Alex is at least 10 years younger than Glennon.
At the moment, he's making a few mistakes, but I much rather play a goalkeeper who has the potential and time to iron out the mistakes in his game rather than playing a goalkeeper, who has never really shown much, barring the back end of last season.
As for the player of the season award, I will be somewhat annoyed if Roberts wins it as he hasn't, in my honest opinion, had a good game since the back end of January.

You were saying that Cadamarteri wasn't an option, because he'd played so little.
He's often played on the wing, goalscoring's not essential to a winger.

but providing assists is. something which he hasn't done that much either.

It's difficult to provide assists when there's no-one to aim for!

Cads crosses are on par with Malvin Kamaras.

I had to go for Gary Roberts. His performances before xmas were amazing, and although he hasn't been the same since, I still think he has been our stand-out player this season.

Better then Clarke at what? Mis-hitting a pass? Being beaten in the air? Losing out in a tackle? Making mistakes? Butler has been a disappointment. Hes better than Lucketti but I thought hed be better from how the Scunny fans raved about him. Seriously, he shouldn't even be in the top 8

Clarke for me. Consistantly excellent all season. They should change the name though from POTY award to the PWWBDGEAIAYOT award. ( Player Who Won't Be Deemed Good Enough Anymore In A Year Or Two award) ;D

How about the FUADLABN award?
Form up and down like a brides nightie!!!!
More appropriate for our lot in recent seasons.

I went for Roberts. His tally of assists and goals in a mid table team is impressive.
He may have one foot and he may give the ball away too much but he is easily our most exciting and creative player going forward.
