Same to you my friend. Might spend the day in Ravensthorpe, I should imagine there'll be a real patriotic feel down there today.

Happy St Georges Day to one and all.
First day I've been able to "celebrate" it properly without being called racist; amongst other things at school!

St. George's day... the day English people celebrate that is dedicated to non-Englishman that is famous for slaying a dragon. Wait a sec... dragons are mythological creatures so St. George is not only not English but he also talks bollocks about killing a creature thast didn't exist. How very proud we all should be ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_GeorgeEDIT: Happy St. George's Day anyway!!

In my opinion, not being an exclusive patron saint only cheapened it further!

I'll go put an England on the Harold Wilson statue and get called racist by one of the train station taxi drivers.

St Patrick was English but I don't think it bothers the irish much. Its a disgrace that this isn't a bank holiday. Wasn't brown on about introducing another bank holiday in time for the next general election ( clutching at straws I think). Why not seperate saints day ones for england scotland and wales? Probably be a National Black Lesbian Disabled One Parent Family Asylum Seeker day (thats what it threatened in the Mail anyway! Or was it promised in the Guardian? lol)

Yeh! Happy St George's day to everyone on here. The thing that annoys me is, no mention of it anywhere, except a couple of papers

We don't need to celebrate St George's Day, as we have no chips on our shoulders as compared with the "celtic nations".
I would find the over-the-top festivities embarrassing if England started to do the same.

I thought it was mainly catholic countries and towns that bothered with saint's days.
Blame Henry VIII if you want a scapegoat.
