Got to love how the stewards claim a flag pole might be construed as a weapon, when so can many other things that get brought to football grounds all the time. Bullshit excuse for taking them off them. My mother, who is 68, has been banned from bringing in china cups for her and my dads half time brew !! The old 'weapon' reason. For real?? I would have thought the 'flask exemption' ruling would be quoted here...."things won't be confiscated that could make good throwing weapons if they are an item that you wouldn't really want to lose"... Like shoes for example.

Some Leyton Orient fans we know had to leave the flag they brought up with some stewards outside because it didnt have a 'fire certificate'

I had my knife confiscated last week because it didn't fit in with the stadium safety regulations on handle length. The blade:handle ratio of the knife has to be a minimum of 2:1 whereas mine was only 1.5:1

I might go on a killing rampage with a flag bought at the gift shop, just to check how good their health and safety risk assesement really is.

Did anybody notice the official shop flags have flexible plastic poles, HS approved no doubt. Whereas any odd pole could be, e.g. wood, potentially sharp if broken. So, unbreakable plastic poles are OK! Nice piece of cheap waste water pipe might fit that description nicely.

Can you imagine Henry V having these problems when he set off to beat up the French? Do you reckon he had to get his flags passed some elf n safety nerd?

Just seen a bloke in the crowd at the Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe game at the CWC waving a flag with a wooden pole.
They had to cut away from him pretty sharp as you could tell all those around him were in dire peril.
