I think a few people have lost their marbles naming the same back two! Bennett Hunt Kay cooper naysmith Mcdermott gobern Johnson ward Novak Rhodes Yeah that's a fantstic Idea, let's change the back two for the third time in as many games instead of keeping the CB pairing that brought us 20 odd games unbeaten. : : : : : : Seriously, what are you people on?

Bennett Woods, McCombe, Clarke, Naysmith Hunt, kay, Cooper, T Clarke, Ridhalgh Novak.
Then when we've secured the inevitable draw and broken our all time unbeaten record, maybe on Saturday we can finally start our season with the following line-up
Bennett Hunt, Clarke, Cooper, Naysmith Ward, Johnson, Robinson, McDermott Novak, Rhodes.

Bennett
Hunt, Clarke, mcCombe, Naysmith
McDermott, Miller, Arfield, Gobern (Robinson if fit), Roberts
Novak
Subs; Colgan, Kay, Woods, Johnson (if fit, if not have Lee/Cooper), Rhodes
Keep the same side because they played well on Saturday and Roberts will be out to make amends for his error. I'd much rather Johnson stays on the bench for a while even when he's fit, to ease him back into it - he's been out for a long time and don't think he'll be quite up to speed for a while, so give him a few sub appearances before throwing him back in. Let the CBs settle together as they didn't do much wrong on Saturday and keep Arfield and Miller in as they did very well. Novak goes without saying.

This thread just shows how hard it is to please everyone. Obviously if we win tomorrow then nobody will really care what team we put out but after all the comments on who Lee Clark should and shouldn't be playing, and the formations he should and shouldn't be starting with, well it can't be that obvious can it when we have about 10 different versions of what our manager should be doing tomorrow? ;D

I'd expect us to keep the 451 against their depleted midfield. Ward for Donal otherwise same 11 for me.

Either same team or Ward for Donal. Reckon Donal will be a great impact sub, more able to change a game than anyone we've had for a while.
NB- I'm not suggesting he should be a sub going-forward!

Mmmmm, very interesting!!!! Seem to remember having a similar discussion with you last year when you actually wanted to tinker with a team which had won 3 out of the last 4.......dropping a player you obviously don't rate!!! Now somebody has suggested 'tinkering' with a team(interestingly enough to put that player back in the side! ) ) your an 'anti tinkerer' all of a sudden!!! Sure you're not just picking and argument to suit the players you do/do not want to see in the team!!!!

I'd guess, but I'm sure Clark doesn't even know. So for that reason; I'm out.

Sure you're not just picking and argument to suit the players you do/do not want to see in the team!!!! Don't remeber having that conversation but I doubt you'd make something like that up so i'll take your word for it. I wouldn't say i'm an 'anti tinkerer' as for my team v Hartlepool i've dropped Roberts for Ward, mainly because of Roberts continued poor form (despite his contributions to the score sheet) IMO, it's time Ward and McD were given a good run of games to form a partnership, as the potential is there for them overshadow Pilks and Roberts time together IMO. I also swapped Gobern for Johnson although on reflection my reason for doing so is probably a bit daft, as I have a really strong feeling that Gobern is going to get sent off on tuesday. However, the main issue over the past few games has been the costant chopping and changing of the CB pairing, which, along with the Goalkeeper, is the thing in a team that should never change (obviously barring prolonged poor form or injury). I certainly wouldn't say i've used it as an argument to suit which players I do/don't want in the team, as if that was the case, I wouldn't have picked PC. However, the reason I did pick him, along with McCombe, (and also the reason I cannot understand why folk are still intent on shuffling things around at the back), is the fact that over the course of the last 30 games or so, they have been by far the most effective CB pairing we have had over the last last season. That is a fact, not an opinion, the statistics I posted on here the other day will prove that.
