What skills do you look for when you are selecting the admin team on here?
I would have thought a basic understanding of computers would be one but judging by this mess it appears not.

But if "Terry" had owned up to the "accident" at the time, it could have been retrieved? Don't think he knew he'd cocked up until yesterday. I don't understand how 2 admins can be involved in moving a sub board, and don't even check to verify that what they have done has been successful.

How do you know that....if you do then presumably you know who he is......Seriously....what the fcuk is going on here.........it's one thing individuals on the board having a bit of banter....but this makes a mockery of the position of authority that the admins are in and the knowledge they have of the system....and to top it all off.....we don't even know or aren't allowed to know who all the admins are.......ok so the Away Days board has gone for good.....not happy but we have to get over it.......but how come Admin have a colleague that they have never met but has the power to shut some or all of the board down accidently, maliciously or otherwise......Awaydaygate anybody!!!!!

I can understand why the lads who used it are pissed off it got deleted without any consultation, or good reason that I can see. But why does that mean its ok to slag off all the other users of DATM, and now the admins aswell?

I hadn't met any of the others when I was made an admin, I just offered to help with some of the graphics and things and knew them only by usernames on an internet forum. Why do we all need to have met each other? Terry has been posting on here for years, it's not as if he's a total stranger that we just thought "he'll do." Reading the thread on the admin board it looks like they got their wires crossed and Terry thought he was clear to delete the board, which he did, and then went on with his day only to come back to realise what he'd done.

Reading the thread on the admin board it looks like they got their wires crossed and Terry thought he was clear to delete the board, which he did, and then went on with his day only to come back to realise what he'd done. Everyone makes mistakes mate. I think it's Terry's attitude when he 'owned up' that grates a bit. Plus people are (rightfully?) peeved that something that was a bit of light relief to many has been obliterated and cannot be recovered. Admin can make changes as they deem fit I guess but it does seem an odd time (late Saturday night?) to be tinkering with things.....I'm sure there's better things to do at that time of day/nite :nodding:

But why does that mean its ok to slag off all the other users of DATM, and now the admins aswell? Not often I agree with you, but a first time for everything! Totally agree, it's a shame that it's gone but it isn't the end of the world. Some of the stuff being posted now is getting silly, e.g. How can you be an admin if you've never met him. Don't think that matters to be honest, the best forums tend to have admins that you don't notice. What is finding out who the person behind a username going to achieve? Most of us are posting under something other than our actual name. Furthermore, when the whole MK Dons "bully" thing was happening the other week, I'm pretty sure the common consensus of the pikeys was "why drag it out on a public forum, when a pm would suffice". Does the same not apply here? Pm the lad (or lass) rather than this public witch hunt, which is clearly not getting anywhere fast.

come on digwon arent you usually the one who says summat like 'who gives a fk etc its the internet'?
my view on the away days board is i can understand why you lads liked going in there for a chat with your pals but this is a huddersfield town message board, not the pub or facebook.
i have no problem with any of you and would rather you had all stayed on the main board as you all seem good lads. imo all town fans should be on the main board rather than in little factions bitching about each other..
what if other folk started wanting their own section?

It wasn't accidentally deleted in the sense of someone just pressed the wrong button. It was accidentally deleted in the sense that the person doing it thought it was ready to be deleted. Wrongly, as it turns out. Yep, this is pretty much all that needs to be said, there really is nothing more to it. I wasn't on til late last night because as far as I was aware, all I'd be logging on to would be moans about Saturday's game. I'm not sure whether the "he doesn't exist" claims are a joke or not, but considering we all have different IP addresses, it's virtually impossible for me to be a fake, unless someone's been driving round to different places for the last few years pretending to be me. Obviously I regret what happened and there's a lesson to be learnt, but there's nothing more that can be done now and nothing I can say except I apologise for assuming. This can't go on any longer, arguing about it and making up theories isn't going to get anyone anywhere, so it's best to accept a rare clanger has been dropped and move on.
