Can i say a massive thanks to all the lads who turned up today to represent the mighty terriers! im sorry i had to duck out, but the last 48hrs had been nothing short of (insert your worst bad word here!).Congratulations to Callum for holding the Simmo Cup! well deserved i hear! After my partners step father was placed in intensive care, i smashed a toe at work and couldn't walk very good, and to cap it off, I went to asda to do shopping and my daughter pucked all over the trolley holding the stores supply of frozen sausage! Cant wait for next week to start TBH. Steve i'll be in touch so we can meet for a pint to sort out the return fixture. i think i owe you that! Paul,Matt,Roy and Callum well done for getting us a great Draw againt the Wendies! once again lads well done and thanks for the effort to both sets of fans!

Hey up fellas...
First off I just want to say thank you to Paul and Callum, Matt and Roy for making the effort to come to this and it has to be said, it was a monumental effort...not just the playing and taking a share of the Simmo Cup but just to actually make one in.
When you wake up on a day like this and look out of the window to see monsoon conditions ya first instinct has to be to turn off the alarm, roll over and go back to sleep. (Which some actually did) To even be bothered to make the drive over and be part of this, well, I really can't thank you four fellas enough.
Just to give you an idea of what it was like, imagine the worst scenes you've seen on the Open Golf coverage and double it...it was just like Links golf in November....the rain was so bad there were no gaps between the drops.
When we walked down the first fairway and got to the green I really feared the worst. Almost ankle deep in water on the fairway and finding a clean line to the hole on the green was nigh on impossible...
Can't get any worse though we thought...
4 holes later and we were eating those words....if the gaps in the rain were nonexistent before it was now coming down even heavier....four holes gone and soaked through to the crack.
You hit ya ball and as soon as hit the ground it stopped...in a lake.
BUT...we battled through it and by the turn the rain had stopped...
Excellent you think...nice and steady then....
Not really, the wind was having it's say now and it was strong at times that by the 18th hole I was completely dry.
We'd be pissed on for the first 9 and battered for the back 9 and I expected to see a lot of weary faces when I got to the clubhouse but there was none of it...both sets of players were holed up in a corner of the bar, mixing well and sharing a pint and natter and when we sghared a table for the food afterwards it finished the day off perfectly...
That the competition was finished in a draw was the right result under such testing conditions and I have to be honest I'm pleased it ended that way...I'm also pleased I won the nearest the pin competition as it meant I didn't need to buy a prize ;D
The competition actually went to the last hole as well. Matt representing your side took on Rich for us and with Matt battling away from being a hole or two down pretty much all the way round it was a cracking tussle right to the last.
As I said though, a fair result in the end and the Simmo Cup halved for the time being. We decided to let Callum take the trophy with him as he'd deserved it. I know what it's like for adults keeping going through that lot so for a young lad like that to stick to it like he did he deserved to have something....Look after it though Callum, we'll be wanting back when we play again and WIN!
The day had the hallmarks of being a washout but it turned into a very good FIRST meeting between the two clubs and messageboards. I've spoken to the other Wednesday lads and they feel the same, it was a good day amongst very good company.
From such a small turnout we made 60 quid for PACT which is our charity. (A small overlooked part of Sheffield Childrens Hospital that deals with kids that have leukemia and tumours)
That cash will be put to good use, I promise you.
One last time...thank you very much fellas and hope to see you soon.
Maybe a rematch when there's an international break on later this year?
Cheers Steve:Beastie

From Calum and myself, a big thank you to everyone who took part yesterday, Some goodish golf by all, Although the weather was horrible it couldn't spoil the day, If anything it added to the experience (want sunshine next time though) Lets hope for more players from both sides for the return and make it an equally enjoyable day and raise even more money for the chosen charities, because at the end of the day, thats what makes it all worthwhile.

Lad's, really sorry about the short notice, but I am now having to go on some bullshit work seminar that day so I'm gonna have to give up my spot. Dissapointed I'm not gonna be able to try and improve on my 3rd place finish in 2011

Had some bad news tonight lads. The footy club may not be able to attend this year, due to Boothy being away and Sean working on something for the club, which could be announced on the golf day date!!! I've contacted other ex players and media chaps connected to the club, and i am waiting for there response. I will keep you informed when i get more news. P.S. its going to be sunny on the 27th. James.

Just been down Castle Hall fields with a pitching wedge. Think I might need to review my current handicap, and also, it wasn't me that broke all the windows in the school.

Aye, stick with it. Let Bradley know if we're a bit short of the 50, I'm sure we won't lose the deposits, especially if they know it's a charity day.
