I was gonna post about the giants a while back and decided against it cos I know there's some pretty heated opinions about them on here. Huddersfield is an odd place. Town are the passion and the Giants the enemy/after thought despite the Giants being progressive and truly challenging for honours at the very top of their sport with a focus on young local and british talent. Town on the other hand are floundering in league one despite throwing money at it here there and everywhere and having bog standard league one players to show for it. I love town despite these flaws but I support both clubs because of one important word at the front of their names "HUDDERSFIELD". If it was a netball team (which is a god awful sport) i'd support them. TBH I'd much rather watch netball than rugby league, although I'd prefer watching paint dry top rugby league too

Three or four competing clubs, sounds like the premiership. Wigan, Warrington, St Helens, Hull, Huddersfield, Catalans and Leeds all gunning for top spot. Not bad for a 14-team division, unlike the PL which is now a 2-horse race out of 20 teams.

I bet the Prem would look to be competitive after 11 games if it was 2 points for a win as well!
The 6 points between Hudds and Leeds would be 9 points in a football league.
On the 7th oct this season, when most league 1 clubs had played 11 games...9 points covered the top 11 teams in league 1...ergo, football league 1 is as open as Super League.
Man City were well clear after 11 games which skews it...but 9 points more or less covered the rest down to 8th...so not that different to Super League.

Davy apart, I used to hate RL when was young but over last 10 yrs have prob been to 2 or 3 a season. The Giants have a very very good side this year , sad to say, I dont mind watching them the odd game !!! :disapointed: totally different animal to the old Footy, drinking beer in yer seat and fans mixed together, yet in footy we are treat like animals by our stewards ?

Since the start of the Premiership (1992) there’s been four winners; Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Blackburn
Since the start of Super League (1996) there’s been fours winners; Wigan, Saints, Leeds and Bradford
Seems they’re as bad as each other!
I think there’s been more different winners of English Footballers top division in the last 25 years (add Liverpool and Leeds to the list) than winners of Rugby League’s top division in the same time

Nice blog piece here about Eorl Crabtree praising Brown... It's more Giants related but nice to see that this bloke has genuine respect for his coach. It would be nice to think that the same ethos could happen at Town and in many other clubs. Respect for your boss has to be a good starting point for success... www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/georgeriley/2012/04/george_riley.html

Having said that however, the PL & the SL have both destroyed the ability for smaller clubs to break rank occassionally and upset the applecart. In the 70's and 80's prizes including cups were probably shared a bit more (with the exception of Wigans domination for 8 consecutive finals), but still with better clubs coming out on top over the course of a season. The PL and SL trophies (FA and Lge cup & challenge cup) have also invariably gone to the top clubs. If you look at this list there's only Everton and Pompey that broke the domination of top clubs. Pre Murdoch days there was still the opportunity for the likes of Ipswich, Soton, West Ham, Bolton etc. & Widnes, Cas, Featherstone to make a name in these competitions. A lot of those clubs are arguably now classed as also-rans... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FA_Cup_winnersen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenge_Cup

Counting chickens it's called... Huddersfield Town not only promoted, but propping up the KSDL organisation 60% owned by the Davy family... What will our 'share' of the costs be next year I wonder...90% ??
Time the Giants ownership did the right thing, do you not think ?

Giants are doing ok. Could be back at Wembley soon! Bet Deo is gutted that Town pulled themselves together and got the job done. Perhaps they did train with the Giants for a week?

When Fartown were at Fartown many Town fans would either support or show an interest in how they performed. Now with Davy backstabbing the football club a lot of Town fans just have no interest at all in how Fartown perform. What makes matters worse is the very fact that Fartown supporters cannot see what Davy has done to both clubs shareholdings not just Towns.

Last time i saw Deo 1 he was dancing down Harrow Road with the best of them. It must be hard being a resolute Giants supporter and a Town supporter in these debates. I do think he will be changing his tune when the day comes when Davy really shows his true colours and it's not too far away for the Giants... Sorry Joe but the Bradford Bulls never saw it coming either and Davy is an accountant 1st and the saviour of Huddersfield Sport a long last...

In my humble opinion Rugby League is more entertaining and exciting sport to watch, so long as it's on television, plus on the rare occasion I do watch the Giants or a non league game, I haven't the foggiest idea whats going on, without the commentators explaining.
I was brought up on football and Huddersfield Town, can't beat the live matchday expereince and being part of it all. Football has the passion, the rivalry and the history, so will always be number one for me.
This rivalry with the Giants is unhealthy though. In a Town our size, both Clubs need to maximise support. Not have this attitude, that your either one or the other.

Don't like RL- no interest in it. To me its just some big blokes in extremely tight shorts rolling about with each other on the floor like some kind of aggressively homosexual version of Twister. You need 2 'skills' to be any good at it-.......1) to be able to run .....2) be able to hold a ball. Master those 2 and be big enough and the chances are you'll be good enough to play for Great Britain. Up to Davy screwing my club over I never gave it a second thought but if pressed id have probably said I hoped Huddersfield won ,just because they're from the same town as my club. Since davy started screwing my club over I have a passing interest ,in that I enjoy hearing that they've lost as the Giants and Davy are one and the same thing to me.

Yep I bet he's really gutted having the expense of his 3 extra trips down here from Scotland over the last 3 weeks (around 1500 miles worth of petrol + match tickets). Get to know your facts before spouting drivel.

;D To be fair I have undervalued the skills needed. I forgot to say you have to be able to do them both at the same time.
