Goal line technology is one thing and no doubt it will eventually come in to the premier league, because of the cost involved don't expect it throughout the football league though. What about all the other contentious issues? you know the ones that provoke arguments in every game, diving, offsides, leg breakers? Then you got Maradonas punchy header, because these are the issues that sudbury thinks we can solve with video evidence, at what cost?? It's one thing watching it on tv when it will be shown from a dozen different angles then picking out the best view, and ex pros in the studio showing it in graphic mode, in the real world it aint gonna happen. :scarf:

And they said we'd never circumnavigate the Earth because it's flat.

I was not suggesting it be used during the game for fouls but rather for ball in/out of play be it goal line or touch line and for offsides. A video referee linked to the onfield officials could easily accomplish this with very little disruption to the game. Especially if the actual referee knew the technology could be used he could ask the same two questions rubgy refs ask, "Goal or no goal?" or "Is there any reason why I cannot award a goal?"

I can just about accept goal line technology but that's it. You do realise that the pictures on the box that you see 'experts analysing' come from FOURTEEN cameras around the ground? it should be a doddle spotting the offsides with that sort of hardware, not so easy with A video camera.

Obviously I mean where the technology is available. All internationals should be covered all first divisions and if possible all second divisions. I doubt that even all second divisions would be covered so Div 3 and below are most likely out of luck. I cannot speak for most places but surely Britain and all of Europe have the wherewithal to ensure that Internationals and Div 1 games are covered. Make it a requirement for promotion to the top leagues that the cameras are installed and working.

Coddtripper,
Why are you so dead set against using technology to ensure that goals/no goals are adjudicated correctly? I am not necessarily blaming referees or their assistants, either. They have a split second to make a decision, but where there is doubt and the video evidence is available, why not use it? I am serious about internationals and Div 1 (in whatever country) should be included. your comment about season ticket prices hardly holds much water anyway as the cameras are used already in those games, just make use of them I say.

Did you misunderstand me? i said i would accept goal line technology. What you are now saying i presume is let's use the Sky / ITV / BBC facilities to make decisions on such as offsides, throw ins, apart from the premier league and internationals you won't get those cameras as a rule, and even then do you think it will come for free? Cue ITV rubbing hands with glee.
