“the £13+million was including transfer fees, signing on fees etc” It is described as … verbatim … “club’s total wage bill, which stood at £12.2m” in the YP.. nothing to do with transfer fees, signing on fees – the key word is “ wage”! Ignoring your subjecture as to the quality of the squad (which by the way had just beaten the team Grayson inherited). Grayson got promotion within 18 months (not two seasons) and Clark didn’t after three seasons Grayson left Leeds in the top half of the Championship. Clark left us about six places higher than when he started! Its obvious who did the better job! Going to duck out at this point because you will only believe what you want One last thought though, you seem to agree our wage bill increased massively after 2010 - your words “This (wage increase) was a 29% increase on the previous year.” Do you honestly think we got great value for that 29% increase in wages - bearing in mind Pilks, Peltier, Peter Clarke, Rhodes, Novak and Robinson ... IMO Clark’s better signings we’re all made in 2009 Personally, I think LC lost the plot after the Millwall game and wasted a lot of money on ordinary players

You say it as if claiming some moral superiority for having taken the high ground when what you did was have one last dig then run off. My Final point is that you are wrong, read the article, if you don't follow it then ask somebody for help but there was a massive difference in the budgets between the 2 clubs when at the same level. The figures you compare when claiming a similar budget are not comparing apples with apples to use your phrase. What Dean included in his £7million is what they include in their £13 million. Read the Scratching shed article written by informed fans. How many times have we accused the media of not paying attention to detail and mixing stuff up. The YP article has misled you.

So we're supposed to believe 'informed fans' on an internet forum ahead of professional journalists with many contacts at the club??
As far as straws go to clutch at, thats not a particularly great one!
Putting all points earned to one side, as that is largely down to the ever changing strength of the division, and just going by the quality of the football we are served up week in week out, what you see with your own eyes as a fan, would you say this season's team is as good as last seasons? Then would you say last season's team was as good as the season before that? I wouldn't on both counts. Think the standard of our team and the football it plays has gone NOTICEABLY backwards for 2 years now. Thats despite a fortune spent on it and countless signings over that time.

I know what you are saying Captain. The 'style' of football comes nowhere near it was a couple of years ago. Just out of interest tho, I'd like to know what our win/loss ratio is for this season compared to last season and the season before. Can't be arsed looking it up at this time of night tho.

Id imagine it goes completely against what i just said. I do think its effected by the general quality and strength of this divsision which IMO has also got a lot weaker over the past 3 seasons. The year Norwich and Leeds went up we finished 6th ( thanks to Saints 10 points reduction). that was a much better quality division than the current one IMO. I honestly doubt this current side would be anywhere near the play offs if it played that year ( and thats even with Rhodes goals propping us up so much).
No way of proving any of that, its just what I think from the dull huff and puff dross Ive largely had to endure for the past 2 seasons.

Charlton are clearly the best of a very poor bunch this season.

Just going off what I was told and Ive no reason to believe the person was lying/misinformed... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17726892According to Bury Manager Bournemouth are the richest team by the money they are throwing about. I am sure you will find when you look into it next year (when accounts are released)that we are in the table about where our budget is in the table. Both Sheffield's and Charlton will have bigger budgets. What matters really is as a percent of income as they will all 3 have more income than us and that is where Dean is helping out massively. Heres a little something to back up my earlier assertion that we have the highest wage bill by far: #cafc spent £2million less on wages than Huddersfield this season - and £1m less than both Sheffield clubs. @richcawleyslp Sound London Today Deputy sports editor

I would have thought that if anyone was to blame for wages it wouldnt be him. The number of times the Clark bashers have said 'time to move on'......its pathetic and naughty.

Where did I once mention Clark? It was to back up a point I made in an earlier discussion with Mally about the town wage bill...

What was CAFCs total expenditure including transfer fees? Ive NFI. Why? Surely if you're comparing CAFCs wage bill to ours Transfer expenditure, agents fees etc. should also be compared, or can't you find a tweet for that?

Scroll to the bottom of this for their transfers from this seaswon. All of which were paid for by selling Carl Jenkinson to Arsenal. I think it probably adds up to about what we spent on Danny Ward alone although there are some undisclosed in there so hard to know en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011%E2%80%9312_Charlton_Athletic_F.C._season

Same for us then, tell you what it's nigh on impossible to tell, what with the number of undisclosed, so called free transfers when we all know there is no such thing.
