Where you hear that Barnsley? Awesome if true would prefer Clayts to Andrews, more longer term prospect with Champioship experience, highly rated at Leeds, skipper/POTY(?) and if we offer wages that Leeds can't/won't it would show the tide is turning A at HTAFC

When Clayton was at Carlisle a couple of seasons ago I remember watching them thinking they were the best team that came to the Galpharm other than Norwich. They were efficient and well organised, the majority of that due to him. Everything good they did came through Clayton and I've appreciated watching him ever since.

talksport says that we, alongside sheffield wednesday and burnley are looking at liam sercombe from exeter. He's a midfielder, reletively young, but if we did sign him i wouldnt be too sure as in to whether he'd be like anton and oscar and he would most definately need an experienced midfielder to go alongside him. Also says he was their top scorer last season..

Anyone reckon there'd be any mileage in us trying to get Powell in on loan from Man Utd? It sounds like he's a ways off being the finished article so they'll probably want to get him out somewhere. Obviously we'd want a couple of other permanent signings in central midfield as well though.

Re: Clayton.
Decent player. Played fantastic for us at the start of the season, with his performances at West Ham and Millwall, he looked like he'd be our best player of the season. Since then though, he's lost it. Rarely gets possession, tends to disappear in the game. I'm sure he'll turn out to be a brilliant player but like Warnock said, we want someone of a better ability right now. Can't wait two or three years for him to mature and learn the game a bit more.
However, coming to Hudds? Right now? Nah. I'd be surprised with the "takeover and investment" talks. If he does go though, you have a decent player, but any better than your mid? Nah. Probably not.

TBH I'd never heard of Clayton before us being linked with him. I don't pay much attention to other team's players unless we're playing them. I'm still pretty certain that he'll be better then what we currently have in CM though not because he's meant to be all that just that our current CM players are that poor edit to add-thanks for the decent post and info on Clayton though mrtrilby

Yeah, don't want to put a downer on a potential transfer target for you guys, just thought I'd give you my thoughts. He has the potential to be a really amazing player, he just needs to sort his consistency out. I imagine that'll come with age, and once he learns how to play himself a bit better. Seems like he has a soft spot for Grayson as well. He'll give it his all, so as long as you don't expect him to be banging in goals every game, you'll be fine Hope he does well, even though this maybe hard to believe supporting Leeds and all, I do have a soft spot for Town.

I'm guessing our new academy fella Steve Eyre will know Clayton very well from his Man City days since Clayton came through the youth ranks there. With that link, Grayson plus the fact we are desperate for a centre mid or four this one has to be nailed on surely ?! ;D
Sounds like a player and taking him from our neighbours would make it even sweeter ;D :scarf: :scarf:
