HOPEFULLY
And by this I mean that there will probably be a few games where we get absoloutely outplayed and lose by 3, 4 or 5 goals.
But, at the same time, there will also be some games where we're the ones doing the dicking!
Teams will come to the Galpharm and attack from the off - we're not the "big boys" anymore and no team will park the bus. With any luck, this will make for some good, open football and a season to remember!

I kind of know what you mean, I like it when it's a little more unpredictable. I know it's not the whole story by any means but the past couple of years did feel like a lot of draws and tight games decided by the odd goal. I think we'll be in for a fair bit of excitement next season.

We might lose some games 3,4,5 nil but in this league that can happen to any team.
If SG brings in the right players!! we might cause quite a few upsets.

Possibly. But at least no one will treat us as Barcelona incarnate and defend like we're the ghost of Pele.
The team that had Pilks and Peltier in would have done well in this league, though the misfortune at OT put paid to that.

Be good to feel more than just satisfied with a result, we always expected a win.
The only time I was buzzing about a result apart from the playoffs was Sheff united away.

Once SG gets these new vital signings in I think we will look to have a side well capable of mid table and we will hold our own but obviously we are going to come up against a higher class of player and struggle in some away games.
cant see many big defeats though, maybe 3 or 4 which wudnt be so bad.

Sound crazy at first, but completely understand where you are coming from and can see a few heavy defeats on the horizon, even if overall we have a decent season.
I've not really seen DATM after a battering, but I can guess it won't be a pretty sight with the usual suspects screaming personal insults.

Sounded like you might wan t us to get beaten easily or were looking for some g*y lov in

I'm confused! Is this thread really forecasting that we're going to get hammered quite a few times next season? If it is, can I just ask on what is this being based? Last seasons performances? The squad hasn't been finalised yet and Simon and Glyn have been very forthcoming about their likely activities. They've indicated that they have players in their sights and until those individuals have returned from their holidays etc. nothing can be progressed. There are also one two players currently with us who have been offered new contracts and whether they stay or not is still not settled. So why we have a thread of this type before any player in/out activity? I know your can't stop fans speculating but we had unprecedented mood swings on here last season and this one just feels like it's the beginnings of something similar to me! Can't we just allow ourselves a little time to dream awhile? We all have ideas on where we need to strengthen the squad and where our shortcomings lay but at least we should see who the management are able to bring in before making rash statements. If I missed the whole point of the thread I'm sorry it just sounds like the beginnings of another bout of self doubt and negativity to me. And we all know what that can do to morale!

I do see what you're saying, personally i hope we do more dicking than being dicked, however i agree with a lot on this thread, that hopefully we are going to see a much better standard of football and have a much more enjoyable season, with less expectation.
Premier League here we come :rofl3:

nah sorry. I think were better prepared for the Championship than many on here think. This! I believe our players are far better suited to playing in the championship where free flowing football isn't so rare. The teams in that division like to pass it about a bit more and I believe we have the players to fit in with that style of play. The rough and tumbles of league 1 were the biggest reason (in my humble opinion) we took so long to get out Im going to get crucified for this but I can see Robinson being a much better player for us in this division

My general point was simply that we should see a lot more open football as regardless of signings etc, other teams will see us beatable and we will see them as beatable. This should result in a return to exciting football where we can beat anyone but anyone can beat us!

Before I start I will state that I hope and pray that SG WILL be a success at Town and he has my best wishes for a long and successful time here.
HOWEVER I do believe we were spoiled during the 2009/10 season and those hoping for a return to that early season form when we literally toyed with teams playing the fast flowing attacking football just shouldn't do.
Looking at it a little deeper I honestly believe our best chance of this would have been to get promoted last season at OT at that time we had the key components of a squad that achieved that and a manager that had produced that.
Currently we have lost the manager and both wingers that contributed to that previous 'open' football.
I don't think we'll be set up to repeat this. SG can get results but rarely he did it winning with fast attacking football - there is no doubt he is effective but neither his L666s or Blackpool sides were known for their fast attacking play. I remember long ball to Beckford coupled with Snodgrass' set pieces at L666s and midfielder Wellens running the show from midfield at Blackpool. Ward has pace but lacks the guile of Roberts or the 2 footedness of Pilkington to beat his fullback (currently). Hunt who has pace to burn, he attacks from deep and as a consequence needs an overlap which takes time to develop.
Rhodes and Novak are the only 2 carryovers from that period.
I will be quite happy to get effective wins this season however those that derided LC for being determined not to lose may well wish we had that quality in the upcoming season.
All in all I am delighted we are promoted and think we should ONLY look forward and not judge the football against what we produced in the past we are in an entirely different league with a different manager and different players.
No doubt we will have some exciting new players to whet our appetite soon and personally will be happy with 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1 wins and many less reverses. you can keep your big wins if it means we don't lose big either.
Oh and the lack of the 'we should be pissing this league' threads on a saturday evening will be a godsend.

I agree that we are (hopefully) in for a more entertaining season, this will be more due to the tactics employed by us & the opposition rather than the players that come in.
It will only be the teams at the bottom of the league that intend to park the bus & that wouldn't normally be until Xmas time when the panic sets in & the confidence has gone. Just hope that it's not us being negative in away games!!!

I agree with most of this. I for one will turn up at the 'pharm this coming season with an open mind. I will judge each game on it's own merits and not having the pressure to be winning more often then not will create an entirely different atmosphere which will be refreshing.
Hurry up August!!!
