Hi all Some of you on here know me, but I am not as active as most.... And I really don't like doing this, especially as there are others who have been more deserving (Bailey, for example) but I wanted to appeal those of you who may be able to spare a few sovs. You may remember Valentines Day - it was LC's last game in charge, a home defeat to the Blades. I was there, and that tea time my wife was at Dewsbury Hospital for a follow up to her most recent smear test. Unknown to us at the time, my wife would shortly be told she had Cervical Cancer. In the 5 months since, my wife has had to have a hysterectomy and come to terms with having cancer, having no choice about kids in the future, as well as recovering from a major operation. Thankfully, the op was a success, and we have been told she is currently cancer free. :celebrate: :celebrate: However, the emotional and physical impact means my wife has needed help. We heard about Jo's Trust from a friend, and they have been excellent at helping Mrs Grim deal with things like telling our two wee'uns (both Terriers!) and so on.... So, as I've not been able to be much use in other ways, I decided to haul my fat arse around Yorkshire, by doing all 3 of the Run For All (Jane Tomlinson) 10k runs. So far I've done Hull and Leeds. I have raised about £250, with York to do. If any of you can spare a bob, please sponsor me. www.justgiving.com/bigdaddyg2012Thanks in advance - admins please consider stickying this thread,,,,

You know mate, when people have cancer, it's not just the patient that suffers. Sounds like you've all gone through it.
Great effort to do all 3 of the 10K's.

I've done a couple of runs in the past, mainly just to get fitter. Luckily enough to have done the Great North twice. Best experience of my life. To stand amongst a group of folk covering every section of society, many with a story that would destroy some of us, who through willpower, resolve, heart, grief and hope are willing to drag themselves through hell to raise funds for a cause. Maybe in memory of a loved one, many just because they don't want strangers in years to come to suffer in the way they have. It is absolutely humbling and inspiring in equal measure.
Great effort Grimois, have yourself a pint when you're done.

Hi Graeme,
As a fellow lurker on these boards I don't normally post but since I bump into you (literally) at 5 a side I thought I'd post my support for what you are doing!

I have just a week to go until the last run, in York....Thanks to all who have helped me raise nearly £500....
Appreciate it.
But after a weeks holiday in Edinburgh, too much Scotch, ale and haggis means I might need wheeling round...

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has sponsored me. Completed my final run despite a horrible case of shin splints.... York was a lovely run, and I'd recommend any of the Run For All runs next year to anyone of any ability.
The atmosphere is always great and the courses are all nice, even Hull!
I have raised £500 for a very deserving cause, so thank you.
In other news, my wife is hopeful of returning to work as a teacher in September....
Cheers again...
