....come and take the opportunity for you and your families 15 minutes of fame!! This Monday 16th July at 5.15pm filming will start on location at the exotic resort of the Millbridge Club Heckmondwike for a new BBC TV Series called 'TOWN'. This new programme is based on the BBC's previously successful TV Series 'Coast' where the presenter Nicholas Crane this time around will travel Great Britain visiting Towns steeped in history. Huddersfield has been chosen as one of these Towns and part of the hour long programme will be dedicated to the famous Huddersfield Town Football Club its history and its loyal supporters past and present. It's close season so we want to generate a good atmosphere and do ourselves proud in front of the soon to be watching nation. Everyone is welcome to take up their '15 minutes of fame'...all we ask is that you wear a Town shirt or or hat so we can deck the place out in Blue n White.....Hope to see you there :scarf:

What Town is it about, I always thought Millbridge was in Liversedge...and therefore has about as much relevance to Huddersfield as Northowram has?

There's always one....a lot of hard work has already been put into this to get to where we are before filming starts....so stop moaning and get yourself down.....you've been invited as a Town fan....i don't care where you live or where you drink....this is about the supporters of Huddersfield Town....the meeting place is a massive 3 miles from the Huddersfield border line.....and it is well documented that Heckmondwike is a traditional Town stronghold and that the Millbridge run solid away day trips that's been noted by many who don't live anywhere near the club ......By the way i live at Roberttown and you can see the Galpharm from our bedroom window....Do you think we should meet there......within the sound of bow bells n all that!!

Calm down!
Don't know much about 'that end' of Kirklees, I've always lived in the hills to the west...just curious on the question of if people from Millbridge consider that they're 'from Hudds' or 'from Liversedge'? (especially in light of all the threads about 'Kirklees' at the mo)
(wont be there...working away)

Huddersfield has a long and famous tradition in the industrial world and so does the heavy woollen. Herbert Chapman use to live in Heckmondwike many moons a go and Heckmondwike was the first place in the world, to have illuminations.

Of course not, but going on the 'Coast' premise, it seems strange to film some Huddersfield Town football club fans in a place that isn't technically part of the town of Huddersfield that the episode is actually about?! Do people from Emley say they're from Emley, or from Huddersfield? I'm not trying to belittle anyone or any place, just curious...as I say, that side of Hudds has always been a mystery to me and if you're not in amongst it you have a totally different view of it...ages ago I worked in Batley for a couple of years, and there were two lads from Batley who worked there, they wouldn't EVER suggest they lived in Huddersfield...they came from "Batley", or, if in a holiday conversation, they'd say, "Leeds". Scoffsablue gives the answer though, the place where you say you come from when you're asked by someone whilst on holiday *is* where you come from!

Aye, but the bit filmed in the millbridge is going to be about Huddersfield Town Football Club, not about the geography of the town. The choice of location is probably to do with the fans from everywhere east of The Three Nuns being more handsome.

If the show was about Heckmondwike it still could do a piece on Huddersfield Town given it is a hotbed for Town fans.
No problem for me as long as it is tastefully done and not a mickeytake. the Scarborough episode was good but another town I forget which, didn't come out of it so well.
