Started off watching town stood down the paddock side with my grandad . But then introduced to the cowshed by my dad , can even remember him hoisting me up over the wall and onto the pitch at the end of the last second division game , when we finally got into the top flight.. Carried on going in there with my mates for many more years and have some brilliant never forget memories . Would have definitely been in there for that match , but god knows where.. Happy days .

It was stated earlier in the thread that the trend for going in the Cowshed died out for a lot well before the Taylor report which is true as the Cowshed boys started standing at the back of the main terrace nearest to the away end....It was one hell of a massive terrace and i'm not sure if it's true but someone told me a long time ago that the main terrace alone could hold 30,000!!

From about 75 i remember standing on the terrace and walking into the Shed for the second half. As the crowds fell moving about got easier. Town used to purposely kick to the shed 2nd half for the atmosphere. It was said our terrace was the 2nd biggest in the league after Charlton (also an Archibald Leitch design i believe). Also, on cold nights the Shed was a place to keep warm.

I remember this trend beginning. It was mostly dependent on who was in town and how many would they bring? There were three clear factions. Terrace side, Younger Cowshed and 'infiltrators', in among the away support in the open end. I remember against Walsall, who would bring 1500 or so, we were in the open end with them and when Stanton scored Half the open end erupted.
When we went away, there were always fellow infiltrators, spotting each other having a pint, in the home friendly pubs. Then getting in among the home fans near to the away support. My memory of this is a night cup match away at Brighton. Micky Kennedy owned Andy Ritchie that night until he got injured. It kicked off right at kickoff, Brighton fans were bewildered. always remember starting the "What's it like to run at HOME!!!" chant. Great times.

It was taken by the Examiner on the night and in the following days edition. I got my copy from them, you could contact them and do the same if you want the pic. I recently e-mailed a copy of the photo to them, ask for Andy Hirst.....By the way.....nice leather jacket ....have you still got it?
