I've left us out of my usual yearly bet (head not heart) and gone for a cheeky little treble on the following to be promoted... Championship......Bolton......7/2...A bad start to last season but finished like a train....should be right up there this time...top 2 no problem Division 1......Bristol City......3/1....Championship experience will help and apart from Wolves i believe the rest are all pretenders Division 2....Bristol Rovers....5/2...They've got money and are spending it shit or bust style....and i have a source!!...top 3 easy....also worth a single bet at 5/2 to boost next years holiday coffers.
It's got to be better than playing the stock market.......a season long investment on these 3 should keep me interested 'til next May.......and the treble pays around 63/1 if i've got it right!

Thats the complete opposite to what I heard about Rovers. I'd read that they would be largely having to stick with the same players as last season

I'd read that they would be largely having to stick with the same players as last season source Tom Parkes Bristol's captain via a mate of mine.....and it looks like he is on his way out even though he says they are throwing the kitchen sink at promotion this season...........5/2 for top 3......not many skint bookies about!!.....yet!!

Can let me know where the best high street odds are for my 3 to gain promotion......there's still plenty of time for further investment before the off......PS....Keep 'em to yourself Ted.....The odds will come tumbling down if this gets out

I've backed Bristol Rovers last season in my treble and they were nowhere near, but since Ward came back they picked up towards the end of last season. I'm not sure as where the 'they busting it for promotion' comes from as I've seen very little to suggest that. League 2 is difficult to call, as whoever puts a bit of form together is usually up there.
Bolton is a good call though, wouldn't sniff at either Reading or Forest either.

Looking at the odds the other day, I was shocked to see how short the odds were on Bournemouth. I know they have a bit of Russian investment and a good manager, but I don't see them as a side who will be challenging the top 6.

Backed Forest/bristol City and Bristol Rovers last Saturday in my local bookies. All to win their respective Leagues. Both Bristol clubs were 12/1 and Forest 8/1.

I think the bookies are just covering themselves in case they do spend shit loads. Not convinced they will, without chucking mega bucks at players they'll struggle to attract top players to go there.

Have to say I was really surprised when I saw that. I buy the Bristol Evening Post most nights but there has been nothing in the paper at all. As for the Gas "buying" themselves out of League 2. That seems wide of the mark. I was out with 3 Gas season ticket holders Sat night and none mentioned anything. I have met Nick Higgs their Chairman as the company I work for have been talking to Rovers for about 6 years regarding a new ground. They have now secured planning permission and work should start this year to open 2015/16. Higgs has a few bob but as for pumping millions into the playing side he hasn't got those sort of resources. In last nights paper they are chasing a reserve team midfielder from Colchester! Tom Parkes is only 20 but has played about 100 games for Rovers. However, there is nothing down here about him leaving.

Must be a "joke" thread, no mention of the Mighty Bantams to win Div.3, PaintPot, League Cup and FA Cup, at odds of about 5/1.

Barnet 18/1 with Corals in the Conference.
Edgar Davids still in charge after doing a brilliant job trying to keep them up in League 2 last season. Got to be worth an e/w bet.

Let's just hope they're keeping it under wraps.......a little like Town are with the imminent signings in the next week!!...One thing is for sure and that's that Tom Parkes has rented a real nice pad just outside Mansfield.......It's a long way to come home for dinners if he's staying at Bristol.
