Anybody ever played it. Basic concept is you pay a weekly fee to enter (say £1), and you are selected a team at random from the football league. 1st team to score exactly 11 goal wins the pot money. If you go over 11, you roll over to 1, or 2 or 3 etc, depending on how many you "bust" by. Normally have a consolation prize for the lowest number of goals scored as well. It's dead simple, and I reckon could add a bit of interest to the season, if anybody is interested I'll set it up. Even if there's only 10 or so to start, it still works. I'll run it with a view to taking say 15% of takings for either the KIU campaign or The Foundation. What say you? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just edited my original post here to encompass all the details which are spread over the course of the thread. The GamePlayers are drawn a number at random - that number corresponds to the teams listed below. The aim of the game is to rack up 11 goals by the final whistle before any other player. If your team hits exactly 11 (or a mutiple of 11) goals then you will win a prize which will be determined by No of entrants x No of weeks game has been in play x 75% If your team has the lowest number of goals you will win 10% based on the above calculation. The remaining 15% will be passed onto the KIU campaign & The Foundation. Only weekend games will be included (this could include Friday or Monday fixtures that form part of a full league fixture weekend - that have been moved for tv etc). If your team doesn't play due to postponement 2 points will be awarded, but the re-arranged game will not accrue any points. After each phase of the game has been completed (when the pot has been won), teams will be re-drawn to prevent players landing a high scoring or low scoring team for the full season. Players can join the game at any time, but will be required to pay for the number of weeks the phase has been in play. The Cost£1 per week - paid 5 weeks at a time (or multiples of) When there aren't any games (international weekends) the game is suspended. Want to PlayA paypal account has been set up where payments can be made - datmbuster@gmail.com - or email me / PM me to request bank details to make a bank transfer. I can also take payment in person when I'm in Canalside pre-match, keep an eye on this thread to make sure I'm going in if you want to pay by that method. The score chart below will be updated weekly to indicate current scores, and will also keep an update of prize money and funds raised for the charity. Good Luck [/a]

I would have a go , how would the money be paid and the game played , would it all be done online ?? Guess we could do it online, I guess you can bank transfer the money across, and I will do a spreadsheet of who has paid, what team you have been randomly selected. I'll put some rules and details together, and a demo of how it works and post it back on here. It's pretty good, as an example, if the pot hasn't been won for say 5 weeks, and you've got 20 people playing, the total pot would stand at £100. Say we decide the winner(s) get 75%, 10% to the lowest teams score, and the remainder going to the charity, then you could be sat with your team on 11 goals and £75 potentially in your pocket, only for them to score in the last minute putting you back on 1 goal. I used to run it at work about 20 years ago, was a good laugh.

We used to play 21 at work. Instead of picking a team, you picked a number on the pools coupon. You got that number all season and it was the total number of goals in the game that created your score for the week. One week could be Arsenal v Chelsea and the week after could be Bolton. v Wolves etc, so the teams involved changed every week. Same scenario, if you went over 21, you started again. When the money was won, the winner got 75% of the pot and whoever had the lowest score got 25%, shared equally if there was a tie.

When the money was won, the winner got 75% of the pot and whoever had the lowest score got 25%, shared equally if there was a tie. Same concept mate but 11 will give us more regular winners, if the numbers swell significantly then we can change it to 21 to keep the wins less frequent, as if there were say 70+players, you'd end up with multiple winners each time. I'll give all those that enter a number, and draw those numbers randomly to assign a team. Every time the pot is won, the numbers will be re-drawn, so you stick with your team for each phase. If your team doesn't play due to postponement etc then 2 goals will be awarded. The game will be suspended for international weekends. Think this will grow over the season, and the beauty is players can join in at anytime, the only requirement will be if somebody joins in say the 3rd week of a phase, they will pay 3 weeks monies, but they will then be awarded the goals scored for their randomly selected team for that 3 week period. Obviously, if your team wins and your payments aren't up to date, then you win nowt. I reckon thats most of the rules covered, but I'll stick it all on a spreadsheet so you can see how it works, and then maybe the admins can sticky it for a few weeks until it gets a bit of momentum. It can maybe go in the Predicition League section then?

Excellent. I'm just in the process of setting up a dedicated paypal account, so you can either pay that way or bank transfer, I've got a separate account that I can use to store the money in. I'll set it up so we can kick off next weekend, so won't bother with the Premier League teams for now, if demand requires, I can add them later in the season.

Please count me in and send details. Doesn't PayPal charge a fee? No worries for me when I win ;-) but takes money from a worthwhile charity.
Either way, count me in please.

Also, when we did this at work it only included league games and all teams had to play their game that week before winner or joint winner was announced. Friday night and Sunday football etc?

I think in order to keep it simple for myself, I'll keep it to games played over the weekend. Midweek fixtures / replays etc will just make it hard to keep track of. If your team doesn't play for whatever reason, then as I said earlier 2 goals will be awarded. If anything needs adjusting in terms of rules we can do it as each phase comes to and end (when the pot is won), that way the winner can't be manipulated. Also, if anybody want's multiple entries, there's no reason why not.

Got a simple spreadsheet which I'll use to keep track of the scores and update regularly on here. So, once you've entered, I'll put your name on a list. I'll then draw a number from a hat and you will be given that number and team for the duration of the phase of the game. When somebody hits 11 and the game starts again, I'll redraw the numbers so you are given a new team. It's going to be easier for me if you can pay a few weeks at a time, the obvious number being 5 so £5. There's a paypal account set up now datmbuster@gmail.com, if you pay by paypal, make sure you give me your name that you want to be listed as. If you want to pay be bank transfer then message me or send an email to the above email address and I will give you the bank details.
