Don't really care where we scout if they're good enough - we have two lads on the books from Warrington (Smith and Robinson) who are similar ages. Jesse Lingard is also a similar age and from Warrington. You can get more than one good player from the same Town Good to see Town scouting not just the best local talent bit also lads from Ireland, Scotland, Norway and Denmark. Can only be of benefit spreading the net wider Tom Smith is from helsby near Runcorn. One of my mates went to the same school a (good) few years earlier. Apologises just what's reported on the site - my point is though that you can find more than one talented player in the same team. There's a school in Manchester that had three England youth internationals in the same year (two at Man City and one at Everton). forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=6146227&sid=039d7f0218cdcd0fae4c1825902c9636

Under 18's lost 5-0 today against Charlton today. Not a good day all round. An effect of Lillis being tied up with the first team?

Half time at Canalside - Town U21s 0 Palace 2.
Dissapointing fayre. No stand outs for Town so far but clearly a couple with potential - Bojaj looks nice on the ball and never loses it (a bit of Sturridge about him) - skipper Boyle looks a composed centre back. Other than that you have to hope most are having off days.
Carr looks poor - a bit of pace but no end product. Trondstadt not in the game. Sinnott strutting around - looks impressive sometimes as Town's focal point but his body language stinks - arms out - moaning - real show pony stuff.
Anyroad - 2nd half's started and we've just scored - og from a corner.

Full Time - Town 2 Palace 3 (scoring 0-1.0-2.1-2.1-3.2-3)
It'll be interesting to see the management's reaction to that cause if those are our next best players then we are not in a good position. We did have one prospect on show and that was the skipper and centre back - just gone 19 and looked the business. Rest of the defence were poor. Sinnott continue to behave like Billy big shot in the 2nd half - bursting forward and then giving up when we lost it - shame as he has some talent - but not enough. FloBo just dissappeared 2nd half. Coughlan came on 2nd have and looks to have plenty ability. Carr was shocking 2nd half - we shouldn't be wasting any more time trying to 'develop' him. Rest were fairly anonymous.
Just hope it was a very young team out there or lots had off days.

Absolutely mindblowing defensive errors for the Colchester goal. They'll fit right in. Good to see Pyke progressing, one I see a lot of potential in.

The couple of times I've seen Coughlan, he's looked like a an excellent prospect. Skillful, sharp and is comfortable with the ball. Very much looking forward to seeing more.

Lol at the 3rd goal. That Pyke lad doesn't look like your typical HTAFC youth player. Pace!

Anyone know how the U-18 went on at Bristol City this Saturday morning? Can't see any update on neither the Town nor Bristol City Official sites. Did the match take place?

Just checked - we won 2-0. Danny Carr header and a Gerrard free-kick from within the Town half!! Get him in the first team!!

Gerrard looked a class above in the development game and his cheeky free kick from in our half caught the goalkeeper off his line. He then ran the length of the touch line catching hands with the supporters. Carrs first half header was taken well however he was later put clean through and managed to put the ball wide when it was easier to score. Sinnott was quite rightly subbed as his passing and general game looked poor. Billing does not do much wrong however needs to work on the physical side of his game. Murphy in goal was barely tested however I did like the fact that he communicates well with his defence. Millwall were no great shakes however were not allowed to play with the likes of Tronstad getting in some telling tackles. Its just my opinion however apart from Gerrard and possibly Murphy there are no exciting players currently on the brink of making an impact in our first team. 2 nil to Town

Billing will definatly play in the first team maybe even later this season you don't have to be flash and exciting to watch to make an impact at first team level, it's about doing the things your asked to do well and he does that. same with tronstad and Boyle all only 18 so plenty of chance and time for them, more so than let's say the likes of Sinnott and crooks now who for me are in last chance saloon as they haven't really kicked on. It's a really shame Charles has been injured as a good start to the 21s could have seen him on the bench for the first team.

Without having to read through the whole thread; what's the story with Pyke/Coogans/Coughlin? They seem to be getting the goals for the u18s? Do they have real potential?
