Jake Charles & Joe Wright in Wales U21 squad I'm working in Luxembourg Thursday and Friday, but potentially at a loose end on the Friday night, as not flying back til Saturday. Hopefully I'll find a better option

Charles not even on the bench for Guiseley, Boyle and Wright unused subs for their sides... Accrington drew and the other two lost so maybe its time they gave our lads a chance.

I went to watch Hull City v Huddersfield Town in the Under 21 Development League last night at North Ferriby. Important to stress I haven't seen the current crop of players, so I was heading there to watch with a clear mind. OK, so I'm no pro coach & it's difficult to judge a player on one look, but, for what it's worth, here are my opinions:- In what was a decent game by both sides & it was played at a fast pace.
Keeper - not much to do. Beaten by two fantastic strikes & a heavy deflection. Both Full backs did well, nothing really got past them, alhough due to Hull's formation and style they struggled to get forward. CB's - I rate Boyle as a better prospect than Wilkinson, talks more, more mobile, more aggressive in the air & got tighter in to the tackle. Booty played CM, looked tidy at times with out really standing out. Billing seemed to run around a lot but without any real purpose, occasionally he's get tight & he's win the ball by been bigger than the opponent. Offered nothing going forward. Also noticed he's very quiet on the pitch (as were a lot to be fair) Duane Holmes - Played wide right, didn't stand out like he usually does at this level (according to reports) poor quality balls at times. Jake Charles - Seemed to amble through the game, couple of times he made room for a cross only for it to be poor. Never broke in to a sprint. Dragged after 60. Pyke - Used his pace to his benefit a couple of times, but was pretty anonymous, got dragged too. Bojaj- Impressed me, worked hard, good physique, good touch, holds the ball up well & got his goal. If he doesn't make it at Town I can see him doing a job for someone in the pro game, got all the attributes that a lower league team would look for. Sondre - Came on wide right, hard to get in to the game. Ronan - Came on late on, no time to get involved.
Town unlucky to lose to be fair, but, I can't see any breaking through right now. They really need to be playing against men, now. It all looks very 'cushy' to me at this level. And the loans Town send them on don't work out at all, for whatever reason?! Perhaps they are falling short after getting 'bulled up' by the club?

He played the full 90 minutes in England's 3-0 win.

I suspect the same wise know it alls - who think finances have no baring in modern football and think our academy is awash with future Premier League stars who are just misunderstood by the rest of the football world - will be the first to complain when were getting drubbed 4 nil at home with the ilk of Matt Crooks (who I suspect is actually now playing a higher standard now than most of our 20 or so young pros on the books will ultimately achieve) getting the run around

Folk on here constantly saying he should give youth a chance, when the most highly rated young players either can't get a loan club (Billings), get sent back early (Holmes) or can't get game time (Charles, Boyle). Yet the same people criticise Powell for not giving them a chance. It's like they must think he sits there thinking we have these amazing young players, better than our first team, but he'd rather play lesser players. Such nonsense. He'd play his best team, simple as that.

How long until Jack Boyle is given a chance in the match day squad. Seems about the best prospect knocking about at the moment

How long until Jack Boyle is given a chance in the match day squad. Seems about the best prospect knocking about at the moment Never seen any of the games and I really appreciate the reports and posts on here from the fans who attend the games. But from the highlight reels and reports I do see this young man always sticks out as quality and has got me excited for the future. Mind you, I felt the same about Holmes after watching the QPR v Town youth game on the web a couple of years back. In that game even the very biased QPR commentators were quaking in their boots every time he got the ball.

A good comeback by the U18's today First half hour or so was embarrassing. Coach eventually changed formation not personnel when it looked far too late. The game was transformed when attackers Pyke, Boyle and Scott were allowed to take game to them. It goes to show what a difference a tactical change can make, simply returning round pegs to round holes and allowing the lads to play their own games.

Pitiful performance by the u18s v Charlton today. More individual errors, lack of team cohesion and dearth of creativity.

U21's are 3-1 up at Palace at half time. Bojaj, Charles & a Holmes pen. Wilczynski saved a pen.
