Alright boys and girls, North End fan here with a few words about Tom Clarke.
To be fair, I haven't a clue how involved he was in the first team setup at the Galpharm. I can only assume he wasn't really getting a look in. Anyway, he's only played two games for us so far, but he looks to be a fantastic signing! A few wayward passes here and there, but he's been an absolute rock at the back so far.
What's his story? How come you got rid of him?
Also, he became an instant PNE legend on Monday night after scoring against Blackpool. Here he is in action

Tom Clarke was a star in the making. His development lagged behind that of the club. we got rid only cos we had visions of greater things> You can turn him into your player of the season without any competition> A grand lad and a grand player.

Injuries have been factors but his versatility has not helped him nail a regular spot in the teams we have had

He's better than we gave him credit for. Can play along the back line or in midfield. No world-beater, but he's steady away.

Fair comment, although one awful game at Notts County sticks in my mind

two cruciate ligament injuries one after the other. It's the same for both the Clarke brothers. If their knees had been built differently they would both have been great players.

When Tom Clarke appeared at half-time on Tuesday it was one of the few times i'd seen him without crutches on. Although he was a good player when he was fit.

Let's not get carried away here. Tom Clarke loved the club and always tried his best, but he was a long, long way below Championship standard. I'd be surprised if Preston fans were giving the same opinion come May. He looked brilliant for us for the odd game, but was never consistent

Basicaly what royalflush said imo. Capable of a one off great game but would soon look very lacking and waste another chance to establish himself. Injuries havent helped him , to say the least but never going to be a championship player imo. Good lad by all accounts and really hope hes a success at pne

Never seemed to achieve his potential with us, best performance I watched was Brentford away, many moons ago!!!

at least half a dozen times the other night it was tom challenging 2 or 2 blackpool players in an aerial challenge at the back post that stopped then being behind...to be honest the goal was just icing on the cake of a very good performance.. Clarke came through the club, lee clark hated that, wanted to buy everyone...strange because as he was always just an average "hod carrier" in good teams youd think he would like hard workers?

Can't agree there, Hunt came through the club, Smithies came through the club, Pretty sure Clark extended Toms contract as well. Just very unfortunate with injuries, battled back from potential career ending cruciate ligament injuries in both knees and deserves a blossoming career, still only 25 this year. PS. Robins has released him not Clark or Grayson.

Looked very good at times, injuries meant he never got a run in the side, hope I'm wrong but cant see you getting a full season out of him.

Could be a decent League One player. That's why we got rid of him. Hope he does well for you though.

Clarke is great cover for lots of positions, right back, centre back, midfield and I think that is why Larry gave him a contract last year, although to my recollection he didn't pick him once, in spite of our 17 match winless streak. He is not however really good at playing a in any of those positions. He is whole hearted and gives 100% but like others have said I am not sure that he is good enough for higher than League 1 level. He seems like a genuinely nice bloke and has been very unlucky with injuries and so I hope that he does well at Preston.

I was at Deepdale on Monday evening and not being too interested in the outcome of the match kept a closer eye on Tom than you ever would on one player. He was immense; defensively he was excellent, often his positional play nullified the main Blackpool threat via Ince's pace and agree with the earlier poster that his goal was just the icing on the cake. He has achieved legendary status in Preston via one goal v their really hated local rivals (makes us v Bradford seem like a love-in) and being MoM v Wolves on Saturday. Good luck to a smashing lad.

If he wasn't from the academy, he would not have been given as many chances as he got at Huddersfield Town. Good honest pro who has found his level at League 1. Still, it's better than rotting in our development squad for another year.

He was generally good for 93 minutes in any game BUT there would be one lapse, one loss of concentration and we would loose a goal. He wold make an error in almost every game that wold cost us. Many other players make as many errors but for some reason Toms always seem to result in a goal or a penalty (followed by a goal)

went on a VIP do at the Mac around Xmas with my Mrs and 8 others just after Tom had made his debut. He came to our table with another player and looked very shy. My Mrs (not a big football fan) said to him " what are you hoping for at Christmas?" Tom shyly mumbled something and after he left I asked the Mrs why she had asked him that? She said he looked very shy like most 13/14 year olds so she was just chatting to him!!!!! Have to admit he did look like a little schoolboy. Good luck to him.

Interesting comments re Tom Clarke here and how he would get on.
Now of course a Championship Player and he is probably better than any defender on our books currently.
The PNE fans love him and sure he will have two outstanding games against us!.

I'm.denying it Marr.. so there is .. I was a fan and defender of Clarke when he was here .. far better than his pedestrian bro in my opinion ... But let's see how he goes on eh? I wouldn't have him back personally
