I think he'll be fine, myself. Not a world beater. I wasn't a fan of Nathan myself (but I wish him well), but Tom always looked good to me, either at centre back or midfield. It was just his injuries that held him back. I might be wrong, but he seems to have that sorted now.

I wouldn't have let him go.

Never really found his niche in our squad, undoubtedly a victim of Clark's desire to buy in 'proven' players. I'm not sure being one of Gerry Murphy's prodigies helped either.
He's done excellent to establish a good career from years on the fringes. Fair play to him.

I liked Tom, didn't rate his brother (I could never understand why he was preferred by management to Mirfin, who I thought was much better). I probably wouldn't have let him go at the time, I thought he was a bit underrated. having said that, now, is he better than Lynch or Smith or Cranie or even Wallace at CB, I'm not so sure. I suppose we will find out soon! Glad he's doing well though

Interesting comments re Tom Clarke here and how he would get on. Now of course a Championship Player and he is probably better than any defender on our books currently. The PNE fans love him and sure he will have two outstanding games against us!. You honestly believe he's a better Defender than Lynch?

Big fan of tom - but we were right to let him go. Maybe not in hindsight, but it's unlikely he would have had the chance here that he has had at PNE
Would like to see him play next to lynch, but wouldnt swap him for lynch.

God help us if you are showcasing Lynch as the benchmark / standard our defence needs to aspire to.

Can't remember him ever doing anything in a town shirt, spent most of his time here injured!

You claimed that TC is better than any of our defenders, which is simply not true. As for Lynch, if you rate him so low then I would wager that you haven't seen him play that much, because in his own right he is comfortably one of the better CB's in this division.

If tc is better than lynch then that makes grim reading for Hudson and Wallace!

I don't think lowly of Lynch, you though made him the point of reference in our side to compare other Defenders against. You,not me. He also isn't one of the best Championship central defenders, that quite simply isn't true.

Sounds like he's done well at League One level and may even step up with the experience and confidence he's gained.
Good on him, a far cry from the worst performance I've seen from a Town player. Came on as sub and subbed himsel having caused both opposition goals. Can't recall the match, but sure it was at the end of a season.
Imagine if this forum existed back then!

Commendable for not naming the offending player . I do not like slating an individual player although I once slagged off Hudson when we played Derby in the 4-4 draw at Town when he was running backwards at about 20mph and failed to challenge Ince. I just remember one stand out awful defensive performance when we played Chester City away in a league match about 18- 20 years ago A certain defender was absolutely shocking and we lost 3-0 . I have moaned about it ever since.
