First off... I come in peace, and won't be posting too regular like... I just want your views.
So... Adam Clayton... let me tell you we were pretty pisssed to sell him for what was it - £600k or something?
How's he been playing for you now, and if you were a betting person, how much do you think he's currently worth if another Championship team wanted to buy him?
£1m?

I'd want £3m+, best midfielder we have and on his day (which is most games these days) he's amongst the best in the division in his position.

He started well last season but tailed off towards the end.. This season he had afew shakey games early on but seems to be a new lease of life in the deeper role he now plays.. Picking the ball up off the back 3 then dictating play & starting the attacks, it's no coincidence that since he started playing that role we are now creating 20 odd chances a game.
Think he would be worth between £1-2m easy imo!

Hello Mr McDermott, I'm guessing he's on your "wish list", just because it's you, we would only ask for a fee of £6.5 million...... When your takeover goes through of course!

He's doing fine and dandy, he'd be a starter in your 1st XI no probs.

I feared as much... would love to see him back....
Most of us have no idea why that absolute tool Warnock swapped him a for a 35 year old goalkeeper.. as good as Paddy Kenny is, he wasn't worth losing Clayton for.

Think my fellow town fans have under rated him a little.
By far our best midfielder and I would value him at £3m minimum.

You seem to have the same situation every season, are you sure Uncle Ken isn't still pulling the strings somewhere?? Dejavu..

ha - cheers bottomlip.
He was pretty ineffective when he first signed as 20 yr old from Man City in the dying months of a season... few games here and there, but always looked out of his depth those first few months...
Then come the start of the next season, he just switched it on big time - playing West Ham he absolutely bossed it and made Scott Parker and Kevin Nolan look like pub players... for the next 30 games we were thinking we've got a real star on our hands here, then he faded completely for the last part of the season.
I think a few of us put it down to burning our physically and mentally - as it was his season playing pro first team.
Next season, exactly the same, 30-33 games as our best player, then awful again.
Then sold to you for a mars bar and a glass of milk.
Very frustrating to see him sold, as clear on his day he was fantastic - but just not used to playing 46 games a season yet.

The lad is pure class, by far our best midfielder in a very good midfield may I add. Best midfielder I've seen down there in a long long time prob since Dean Gorre. I would value him around the 2-2.5m mark. Prob slightly more thinking about it.

You seem to have the same situation every season, are you sure Uncle Ken isn't still pulling the strings somewhere?? Dejavu.. Yeah it's just waiting in the queue at Football League central.... that con-merchant-yes-man-shaun-harvey probably keeps putting it the bottom of the pile of things to do. It won't be a massive thing for us - it's the existing MD essentially buying us out from his existing employer's (a Bahrain Bank) and going it under his own name, along with a small group of Leeds-based / Leeds-supporting wealthy businessmen... I think we're all expecting something like £3-4m to be available this window, and maybe same again in the summer - it won't be mega bucks, but a lot more than we're used to under that Ken B***s. The big thing for Leeds fans really is that come summer nearly all of our dross-30+ salary stealers are end of contract.... Danny Pugh, Michael Brown, Paul Green, Diouf, Adam Drury, Paddy Ashdown, Luke Varney, etc.... saving us c £70k per week in wages. We should see some real rebuilding then under McDermott - i think we've all written this season off.

He is awesome in the deep lying role Robin's has found for him. A bit further forward and he is much more inconsistent.

If he's still in his present form when we play you, you'll be even more unhappy.

Think my fellow town fans have under rated him a little. By far our best midfielder and I would value him at £3m minimum. Would agree. I think some on here have undervalued him. Hughes at Derby is valued at £10m+ and he is a terrific young player. By comparison Clayton has to be worth £2-£3m. He has loads of time on the ball and scores goals. Only negative for me is that we will inevitably lose him at sometime this season due to indiscipline.

has dips, but overall different class.
honestly dont think we would sell for 2m. think we'll be looking for 3-4 when he moves on.

Interesting people are valuing Clayton around the 1.5-2m mark...I was very critical of him earlier in the season, I thought he was soft and lazy. However when he's on song (often he has been for the last 10 games or so), he's head and shoulders above anyone else. Personally, I'm not sure you could buy a replacement for him with 2m. I'm going to put a 3-4 million price tag on his head. Those are my terms.

If Norwood is worth £1.5 million as quoted in papers today for Celtic possible move, then Clayton would be worth about £2.5 milllion

£3m plus add ons would be a fair price for Clayton IMO - I doubt we could replace him with someone as good that would be ready for the first team, yet still young enough to improve, for much cheaper.
Not brilliant in EVERY game but never the worst player in a game despite the disappearing act he does in his weaker games.
One of my favourite Town players at the club at the moment.

He seems to like it at Town, he has a smashing time at training with his mate Paterson. We wouldn't need to or want to sell, so another Championship club would be looking at £2mill+, probably £3mill this transfer window Also think he would be looking for a step up in league in the next season or two and is playing that way, so only to a prem club or one that will be pushing for automatic for the next couple of seasons. If he fails with that he will be a mercenary to who offers him the highest wage like Rhodes who you got to see a few days ago who should be a starter in the Premiership but got a discount on chicken instead.
