Still academy coach at Ipswich according to Wiki. Teaching the youngsters how to throw elbows and do ridiculous dives when no one is anywhere near them?

We've gone downhill since he left, get him back now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nahki and big Al upfront lethal. Would be good to see Nahki play upfront with a big man! Alan Lees goal scoring record at town was appalling, but he brought so much to the team! And was exceptional at holding the ball up! No. He. Was. Not.

Was. Not. I'm with you on this one Andy. I thought he was absolutely garbage at everything, apart from turning the game into a sideshow pantomime. He scored a goal on average every 8.8 league games, which must be up there as one of the worst records for any Town striker who's played a good sample of games. Poor, especially considering that he had Pilkington, Roberts and Hunt swinging great balls in on a consistent basis.

He was only bought because Dean thought we needed to toughen up after getting intimidated in the play off at Millwall. I think he probably served that purpose.

the 'entertainment value' was high though..
assaulting the keeper on the goal line was a classic..

And to expand on my post, in his first season he certainly didnt look a 100%er..he didnt look arsed. Improved after that but was still poor Grant holt is in a different universe to alan lee

He was no Grant Holt, but I am in the "pro" camp - always gave his all, made things happen when he came on, if not always for the right reason. Clearly a legend and it would be good if Ipswich gave him a cameo spot on Saturday. Alan, Alan Lee!!

It surprises me to hear from fans who say he always gave it his all/100%; I didn't realise we had so many fans who missed so much of the 2010/11 campaign
As for buying a round of drinks - so did every other senior professional on every other table at that event as far as I'm aware... it's almost as if it was done under instruction/advice from the club. Which could lead a cynic to ask whether or not they actually paid for it out of their own pocket. But I'm not cynical like that

Reflecting on Alan's career at town feels a bit like recalling a bad dream you had

I liked watching Alan play for us, and we shouldn't devalue a physical presence and a bit of cheating, not with Grant Holt now playing for us. I'll never forget Lee fouling the keeper then pushing the ball in with his hand, true comedy. Next thing you will be starting a thread suggesting Wayne Alison was no good because he had no football skills That "1930s" type goal or just blatant foul was an absolute gem .

Always liked Alan Lee, he's a bit of a poor mans Grant Holt! Bit ironic then that Norwich failed to sign Alan Lee after his loan spell with them at the end of 2008/9 when they were relegated to League One and ended up bringing in the cheaper Grant Holt instead
