After our recent run much was discussed regarding it on here, not least our final appearence (which i attended) v Spurs. What i did not know was that we reached the semi the folling year (74-75) with pretty much the same team. We were beaten by Ipswich who had Russell Osman, John Wark, Keith Bertschin and David Geddis. In the previous round we stuffed Leeds away 2-1 and they had Byron Stevenson, Bobby Shields and Carl Harris. The pleasure of finding old programmes...

I recently bought a programme on Ebay from a game I saw at Huddersfield back in the 80's (Town v QPR, I think in the FA Cup) before realising I already had the original programme from the match. In that case, it was NOT a pleasure finding that old programme!
And last week I bought a DVD of a film I already had on DVD: 12 Angry Men, which I'd stupidly put at the end of my alphabetical row of DVDs instead of at the beginning hence why I didn't think I had it.

Wow...looks like you are having a real rough time of it. Dont worry, it will pass and your luck will change.

Bobby Shields.... Later went on to have a successful career as a hunger striker if i remember right ? Which reminds me of some famous graffiti in east Belfast from many years ago: 'We'll never forget you, Jimmy Sands!'

I was making a vague attempt at humour... Bobby Shields was of course the human barrier used by the IRA to stand between the police and the Irish lines

I think it went to extra time and as it was the first game i was allowed to go to alone my Mum went ballistic when i got back late! As a fan of both teams i had two scarves ( one of each club) around my wrists. Platforms and nylon trousers with a six button waistband!

Went to see the statue of Brotherton today....the foot had a lovely quote..."my riches are not in my possessions but the fewness of my wants". Wish we had MPs like this today, self-made men with a sense of duty and philanthropy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Brotherton
