Only difference being , scannell didn't leave the pitch for a cup of tea and a quick sarny mid move.... Clayton's goal was a cracker that night too..

Another great left sided player missed by Ingerland! missed? but he's not english? I am sure they could have found an English relative somewhere in his family to justify bringing him into the England fold, had they been sharp enough. Like Giggs, he's not going to win much with Wales. Frustrating.

Bale was eligible to play for England through his grandmother, but he stated in 2007 that:
"It is an honour to play for Wales...Nobody ever got in touch with me personally from England, only through my agent."[

The purists on Sky News were saying the goal should not have stood, as he left the pitch, and technically should have asked the ref for permission to return. Might still have had time to outstrip the full-back if he had done !

Cheers Ryan. What a bizarre argument. If giggs had chosen england, he might never have been his idol. But he didnt choose england, he chose wales..and bale was born in wales, grew up in wales, with his idol being the wales player, ryan giggs. So from that, I imagine he grew up dreaming of playing for wales - rather than england.

If he really wants to replicate Giggs he'll be ringing in sick for every friendly.

I don't think Giggs was ever eligible to play for England.

.. Seniors, I know he played at schoolboy level. A different set of rules apply re eligibility.

He said that Bale CHOSE Wales because of Ryan Giggs, not the more obvious reasons that you mention. i.e being Welsh.
