Forgive my ignorance... who's Ben Pringle? You generally know your stuff, FP. If he's good enough for you, he'll do for me! He's a gingery blond midfielder for Rotherham. Came through their youth setup and has a decent left foot on him - takes a lot of their set pieces. Gets up and down the pitch quickly and always finds a clever pass in a side that generally plays long ball. I think he'd do well at this level and would compliment a few of our midfielders well. Well he came from non league and Derby signed him but yeah he's gingery blonde and we're definitely interested

Ben Pringle made the PFA League One Team of the Year as did Callum Wilson.

Really? He turned it down or we did? Hope its the latter We turned him down, and it wasn't a wage issue either, for some bizarre reason, the powers that be decided that Stead would be a better option. Everybody makes mistakes Don't forget these people are being payed millions to make these mistakes. Ah well at least stead got the winner against l##ds

Ah well at least stead got the winner against l##ds Doubt they're being paid millions and I'm assuming Stead was brought in as back up for when JV wasn't fit so him and GTF are hardly like for like but I get your point. Only saw part of the Rotherham game yesterday but I thought Revell played well yesterday-strong and mobile was what we were missing when JV was injured. I will use the caveat that I'd never heard of him before and he might be crap 99% of the time and it was against a lower level opponent(obviously) but that doesn't seem to stop other people in these threads

Craig Makail-Smith would be good signing Keep him fit and he would be superb. Probably well out of our price-range though.

You rate o'grady mate? heard we are defiantly in for him. He's alright. Looking at his stats we scored 44 league goals and he got 15 of them (4 were pens). If someone scores a third of your goals it looks good. Big, strong, always tries and that. We wasted him for months out of position on the left wing as a lone striker with nobody to pass to. Bournemouth are getting 3 million for Grabban who in a much better team only just outscored him, but with our board having a big history of being a third world country on transfer fees I would be shocked if we got more than 500k for him. [quote author=" AndySk" source="/post/1531926/thread" timestamp="1399468269"Always quite liked McCourt when he was at Celtic, take it he didn't do much for you then?[/quote] Plenty loved him for the all too rare pieces of brilliance he showed like his Middlesborough goal taking on the whole team which reminded me of one at the same end Ginola scored against us for Spurs in a 90s fa cup match. I thought he was lazy and looked like he'd just had a big night of 20 pints and 20 cigs. Doesn't come across as a team player, rarely passed and don't expect him to trek back. Some don't mind him standing around waiting for the ball because everyone has a role in the team and not everyone should trek back. Depends on your mindset.

McCourt strikes me as one of those old school maverick types you don't see too many of anymore. I kind of like the fact there's still a few of them around but they're definitely a dying breed.

No he wouldn't improve us IMO. Can't imagine we'd be looking at wingers anyway really.

£2million would be a good amount for someone who could leave next summer for nothing and cost us £500k
I'm sure Leeds have a decent sell on though

Clayton is going I'm afraid.
A player of his quality and importance to our squad would've had a new contract by now.
I will be very sad to see him leave and I just hope we get good money for him.
If he had 2 years left, I think we might have got £4m-£5m

Ok, many people have been shouting about who they want at Town realistically on other threads, so I thought I'd neaten up all the rumours and only post the likely ones. Decided someone should cut the unrealistic bullshit like Troy Deeney and focus on players we could actually get. So here is the list of players we are actually rumoured to be linked with: Cyrus Christie (heavily) Harry Maguire Chris O'Grady Rados?aw Majewski Tomasz Cywka Craig Cathcart Sean St. Ledger Mike Van Duinen Gary Mackay-Steven Stevie May Chris Eagles Ricardo VazTe Kieran Agard Jay Emmanuel-Thomas Tom Beugelsdijk Jose Baxter Tom Lawrence Franck Moussa Chris Solly Peter Whittingham Tommy Rowe Jake Buxton Luke Freeman Sam Baldock Chris Kirkland Luke Ayling Mark Hudson Chris Burke Darren Pratley Matt Gilks Jacob Mellis Massimo Luongo Kirk Broadfoot Emmanuel Ledesma Ben Watson David N'Gog Jonathan Parr Reda Johnson Luke Steele Marc Pugh Simeon Jackson Jean Beausejour David Cotterill Bobby Hassell Gary Caldwell Zat Knight Matthew Etherington David Forde Reuben Noble-Lazarus Sylvan Ebanks-Blake Paddy McCourt Ben Hamer Lloyd Dyer (linked, but shit) Andy Keogh (linked, but shit) Danny Batth (slightly unrealistic) Harry Arter (slightly unrealistic) Chris Wood (slightly unrealistic) Jack Hunt (slightly unrealistic) Glenn Murray (slightly unrealistic) Ryan Gauld (slightly unrealistic) Marc Albrighton (unrealistic) Sean Morrison (unrealistic) Anthony Pilkington (unrealistic) Much to speculate here... Why is Lloyd Dyer so much more spectacularly shitter than the others (bar Keogh) that he deserves shit in brackets after him?!! Tom Lawrence might be useful, Whittingham is exactly the mould of player I think we need in midfield along with 2 proven defenders and a striker. Always thought Dyer looked dangerous at this level, apparently signed for Watford though.

If there's any twitterers or whatever your called, send a tweet to one of the Directors and ask them outright if they are going to enter contract negotiations with Clayton.

Rumour has it that we are looking at Rotherham's right back... OK I started the rumour as a few commentators on the lower leagues say he is the best in L1 so I thought Robins should be made aware before he signs Cyrus Christie.
