I would highly recommend going to a Grand Prix at least once in your life. I went to Silverstone some years ago and was amazed at the noise, speed, and braking abilities of those cars. They are amazing machines.
I haven't been following it much this year but I hope Hamilton wins the title again. Always good to see a Brit do well.

Rosberg cleared due to 'lack of evidence' - first corner tomorrow will be tasty.

I used to love Motorsport, helped my mate out when he used to race saloon cars after a successful spell as a youth in karting where he raced alongside David Coulthard and Alan McNish. Given the finances involved in formula 1 it is unbeliievably dull, people are drawn to it because of the glamour surrounding the whole circus. Went to the GP in Melbourne about 12 years ago and I was bored shitless afte 5 laps, never again. If you want to watch some entertaining Motorsport, get to Cadwell Park at the august Bank Holiday and watch the superbikes coming over the mountain, it's mental.

That doesnt take much though, so is rugby league (just) Aye, just making the point that 2 of the biggest critics of F1 in this thread would prefer to watch horses jumping over a couple of bushes. Id rather watch bradford play leeds or listen to a mick wadsworth post match interview than a f1 procession. F1 is absolute crap imo - nothing to do with the driver anymore just who has the best car and its just dull dull dull. Sorry - i lied re the wadsworth interview!!!!!!

Haha you're right mate, you find cars driving at 200mph dull, yet crickets ace!! We are all different! I like cricket and I like F1. Not all sport needs to be played out at the speed of 100MPH or whatever F2 is these days A slow burning drama like a Football League season or the County Cricket Championship is these days gives me far more pleasure and excitement any of the far shorter versions of any game. I enjoy the F1 because of the the different tracks and variety they are supposed to bring to the sport over a full season. Ross Brawn tends to have one flat season followed by a fantastic start to the next season which peters off while the rest catch up. Be interesting to see if the rest catch up this year. Adrian Newey will obviously be working on it Oh yeah and I know Brawn isn't currently at Mercedes, but it's his car. For me cricket works similarly but for tracks read pitches. Plus Newey & Brawn never ever pick a spinner no matter what the surface

I have no interest in F1 at all, but people appreciate different things in their entertainment, so I'll generally not call something else crap.
Does my nut in when folks have to chip in; slagging something off, as if their view is somehow more valid. It happens every time there's a Giants thread and you can guess the likely characters.

I just watch it on the TV mate. I'd imagine it's crazy trying to organise accommodation around the TT. There's a great film called TT3D Closer To The Edge which is the closest I've been. I want Guy Martin to win a TT race, think he's a good lad.

He was very twitchy going in to that corner. I suspect he knew what he was doing Will be an interesting start to the race tomorrow. Hamilton won't be hanging around in to that first corner, he seemed quite pissed off Looked very suspicious, especially when they compared it to his pole lap! I would say it deliberate because he didn't report anything wrong with his car to make him steer that way, and i'm sure he would have!

My F1 viewing goes as such:
Watch them all fly into the first corner. If there's a big fuck off crash carry on watching for another 3 - 5 mins. If there's not, put on something more interesting such as my 'Grass Growing - Part 2' DVD

the days when it was very dangerous aside, its become very censured and relatively boring. On the other hand getting through certain areas of Bradford at rush hour has become a right adrenaline rush. When 51% of the other cars are not insured and 56% of the other drivers don't have a dog licence never mind a driving one and the taxi drivers treat it like Death Race 2000 you have to have your shit together. saw a 4 car bump last Wednesday morning, everyone got out and ran off? ? very surreal...

Well if you thought that was like watching paint dry you're completely puddled.
Incredible race. Better than 2011.

And what he saved from the pot he was given on an expensive (as it comparatively was then) trip into Europe, he bought a big old 1950s Norton and a full enclosed sidecar so he could shut her in and enjoy the ride in peace! I learned everything about women from my dad, RIP !

Poor decision not to give him a 5 second penalty though, had they done then he'd have been well back come the end of the race Hamilton is having some rotten luck this season

Great race but how on earth did rosberg escape a penalty? He totally missed the chicane and did his lap a second faster so if that's not gaining an advantage, I don't know what is. Pathetic decision by the stewards.
Hamiltons was a bit different as he gained a place. At least he yielded immediately so well done Lewis, stay honest!

Charlie Whiting had a mare with that decision. If Rosberg had have stayed on the brakes to make the corner, then he would have lost the position to Hamilton, how he escaped punishment is beyond me. Decent race though.

The stewards made the decision not to penalise Rosberg, not Whiting (he's the race director and doesn't make decisions on penalties). Anyway, thought he was lucky, though not convinced he'd have lost the position personally, but I do think he got lucky. Cracking race though. Even with 3 laps to go I couldn't make my mind up who I thought was going to win out of the top 5 on the track at that point. Stunned that Rosberg managed to finish and get 2nd in the end given his issues.

Any one of 5 cars could have won it with 5 laps to go. I honestly thought Massa was going to take it from all the way back in 5th as he was running fastest at that point. Strange indeed with the Mercedes losing power - certainly evened it up a bit. Credit to the strides we've made in safety over the last 20 years too for both those lads to walk away from that crash at the end.

Agree with your final sentence 3pipe. Vettel was also incredibly lucky not to be wiped out by Massa as he flew by after the contact with Perez. Massa and Perez both gone to hospital from what I've heard, but both should be ok (was certainly glad to see them both get out of their cars relatively quickly after the accident).
Edit: Perez and Massa both released from hospital.
